About this trip

Kick off the Holiday Season with a 3 day/2 night trip to Savannah, known for its southern hospitality and abundant Christmas spirit. En route to Georgia's "First City" we are introduced to Low Country southern hospitality with a lunch stop at Historic Clark's Inn & Restaurant. Upon returning from WWII, "Bubba" Clark opened this restaurant and the Clark family still enjoys serving roadside travelers to this day. Following our group lunch, there will be time for a stroll through the famous "Whimsey Gift Shop" offering curated items by local artisans.

The southern hospitality continues when we arrive in Savannah with a Manger's Reception at our hotel, The River Street Inn. The Inn combines historic charm and an unbeatable location on the world famous River Street. Enjoy riverfront views and walk out the hotel door to cobblestone streets lined with restored 18th and 19th-century warehouses repurposed into restaurants and retail. A trip highlight is the Savannah Christmas Market at Plant Riverside District. This European-style market celebrates each year with over 50 vendor booths and a Festival of Trees. Open 11am-9pm daily, the Market is a short walk from the hotel. You might even consider this your destination for lunch or dinner since the options are plentiful in this bustling entertainment district. The City Market and Park-like Historic Squares are also part of the Savannah experience on Day Two. We enjoy these and the magical atmosphere of festive decor with a narrated Trolley Tour followed by "hop on and off" privileges throughout the day. Located in the City Market, a visit to Savannah wouldn't be complete without a tour of America's Only Prohibition Museum. You will travel back in time to a world when flappers ruled the dance floor and gangsters ran the city. Your visit ends with a holiday-themed cocktail from the hidden speakeasy!

There is an option to purchase tickets that evening to "A Christmas Tradition"' in the Historic Savannah Theater. The theater is transformed into a winter wonderland for this beloved holiday tradition. The show features high-energy singing, dancing and comedy. If you miss enjoying a Christmas Variety show in Myrtle Beach this year, this could be the show for you!

Finally, there is one more stop on Day Three at the Ships of the Sea Maritime Museum for "A Very Maritime Holiday Tour".

About your organizer

P
Patty
I love to travel so in my partially retired life I decided to adapt my passion for travel along with 25 years of experience in Travel & Tourism to create Trips by Patty. I received a BA in American History from UNC-Chapel Hill. Not knowing what I was going to do with that degree, I started working as a desk clerk at a hotel in Raleigh. I enjoyed the hotel business and the career path began. Hotel operations and sales, Convention Center operations and marketing, destination marketing with a Convention Visitors Bureau and even a stint as a tour guide. What happened to the history degree? Well, many times when I am escorting my trips I share the history of the destinations we visit. It's a great feeling to take your career skills and adapt them to your own small business. I love what I do and hope you'll join me on a trip one day!
