The wintewr solstice in Tiwanaku, Bolivia, is celebrated annually on June 21st as the Aymara New Year (Willkakuti or Machaq Mara). It marks the return of the sun and the start of a new agricultural cycle, with thousands gathering at the Kalasasaya temple to welcome the sunrise with indigenous rituals, music, and dance.
