About this trip
The essential nature and beauty of watercolor is its loose and flowing passages. Plug into that essential nature in this watercolor painting workshop. Learn the techniques and considerations that give watercolor its freedom and open a new range of expressiveness in your own work.
What we'll cover:
- The one 'special' technique that is often overlooked but is key to expressive, loose washes
- Manage flowing washes
- How to combine free expression with representation
- Most Importantly - giving up control!
Each day opens with instructor demo on a key technique or consideration followed by guided practice. Afternoons offer the chance to follow along an instructor led painting project or the opportunity to work on applying the days techniques and ideas to a composition of your own. In either case, count on help, advice and guidance from the instructor. We'll end each day with a review and critique of the work completed during the day.
About Tony Conner
Tony is a Signature Membership in both the New England and Vermont Watercolor Societies. He is also an Artist Member of New York’s venerable Salmagundi Club and the North Shore Arts Association.
He is profiled in Plein Air Magazine, August/September 2015; “100 Artists of New England”, Schiffer Publishing, 2011 and “Three Who Nurture The Arts”, Southern Vermont Arts & Living Magazine, Summer 2013. His work is also included in “Watercolor Sketching, An Introduction”, by Paul Laseau, Norton & Company, 2012.
As an instructor, he receives very high marks for his ability to both demonstrate and communicate complex drawing and painting concepts to his students.
He schedules and teaches many of his own classes and workshops and is also a regular instructor at IS183, The Art School of the Berkshires, Stockbridge Massachusetts; Salem Art Works, Salem, New York; and The Art Center of the Capital Region, Troy, New York.

Price is per person. Double Occupancy. You each have your own "sleeping nook" with fun and cozy privacy curtains and your own closet for personal items And your own bathrobe. You share an en-suite bathroom
We assign all students to rooms based on giving everyone a great space. All double occupancy rooms are in the main property
