Itinerary

Day
Volubilis & Meknes

Our day starts at 8:30 from Fes, from your accommodation to begin our journey.

Along the way we will stop several stops to take pictures and enjoy the panoramic views.

We will visit the ancient Roman ruins of Volubilis and spend enough  time to exploring the 2000-year-old ruins and getting a picture of life  during the Roman Empire, with the explanation of the guide it will be easier and more interesting.

Upon arrival in Meknes, one has a magnificent view of the Medina. The  tour begins with a tour of the walls with monumental gates dating from  the seventeenth century Berdaïne Bab, Bab Khemis. We continue exploring  the city by the stables (Rua), attics (HERI), and Stud. Stop needed at  the Mausoleum of Moulay Ismail was for a long time the only mosque that  non-Muslims could visit in Morocco. It then exits through the famous Bab  Mansour El on the vast square Hedim. On the other side of the square,  the Museum of Moroccan Art “Dar Jamai” offers a wide variety of  handcrafts.

After finishing our tour, we will head to our destination Casablanca via the highway.

As soon as we arrived at Casablanca Airport, we received a text message from the driver and were properly picked up. We had a good moment until Meknes. However, we noticed that the driver was using a cell phone while driving. Is that lawful in Morocco?

I couldn't recommend this desert trip enough. The travel was comfortable (it's a really long journey but this is as comfortable a way to make it as is possible, the accommodations were super comfortable, the people were incredibly friendly, kind and helpful, and the journey is one of the most beautiful you'll make in your life. A couple of points that could be improved: - The tour guide could have added a little more context on the long drives between destinations - a little bit of history of the country and the area would really help to make the trip more interesting. - The bus dropped us 25 minutes walk away from where we were told it would at the end of the trip, which led to some stress in Marrakech getting to our accommodation. However, I genuinely couldn't recommend this incredibly well organised trip enough - beautiful, well organised, and a very reasonable price for the quality of the trip.

Honest feedback about our trip in the middle of November 2023: 1. Our driver was Abdul Washington - best of the best really. High responsibility for the safety of passengers and he has amazing sense of humour. 2. I think 3 days 2 nights trip is better because the road from Merzouga to Marrakech is too long and you will be damn tired 3. The second day trip plan was a waste of time, it’s better to exclude old town with the 1 hour excursion to their market because it’s too old and there is nothing special 4. Ouarzazate and Atlas studio are amazing sights, definitely worth visit 5. The food on the road is not good, because of the small choice (only Moroccan cuisine and then you became tired of same food for three days) 6. It’s better to start one hour earlier from Fes because it would be better to come to the sunset earlier - this part is definitely one of the best parts of the trip for everyone 7. Sahara is nice and the camping is also good but guys I would be honest that it’s not cold at night - it’s FREAKING cold and better to take ski suit (I’m not joking - we couldn’t sleep because of that cold) 8. Sunrise in Sahara is beautiful but again very cold 9. Absolutely everywhere people will ask for tips (I mean just people around - not 3t travel) I hope my feedback helps :)

When I chose this tour (3t Travel) among the other choices, I was worried it was a scam. Happy to report that 3t Travel's owners are originally from Risani, gateway to the Sahara, i.e., they know what they're doing. Ikram in the main office was actually the reason I signed up, and the price is very reasonable compared to their competitors (as of October 2023 anyway). Guide was Mohamed, Driver was Hassan. Both did a good job taking care of our group of 10. Later our group grew because we had to go back (extra 20-30 minutes) to Ifrane to pick up 4 other tourists whose van broke down. This made us late arriving in Merzouga to meet the camels, so we had to rush to see the sunset. Otherwise, we had a wonderful time and our international group hit it off, making the experience even more enjoyable. I brought the itinerary with me because of comments from others and reviews. I can confirm that Mohamed stopped where we were supposed to stop throughout the three days, with enough time to enjoy the experience. Our driver also checked tires, oil and water levels of the tour bus, which showed that they care about safety of the passengers and getting to the destinations on time (no breakdowns). This impressed me and my husband, even though few on the bus probably noticed. The camel ride (only 30 minutes to and fro) was just long enough for my backside and sleeping in the "luxury" tent was memorable. I saw the standard tents and you might consider upgrading. The staff at the "Berber" encampment were lively, friendly, and provided excellent service. BTW, there were some issues with the standard tents, and those in our group who were affected, were upgraded to the luxury tents without additional charge. The hotel in Ouarzazate (day 2) was plush enough and the included dinner and breakfast were pretty tasty and generous (buffets). The Atlas Studios Tour was worthwhile and better than Universal Studios in Los Angeles because they let guests step on the sets. Ait Ben Hadou was also another enjoyable stop. Don't buy clothes there; wait for Marrakech or Fes where they would be less expensive. We bought paintings which the artist created with saffron, tea, and indigo. So cool. The final day to Marrakech was fine, but by then we all wanted to get there. It's a long 3-days but it didn't feel that long because of the entertaining stops. I highly recommend this Tour and Tour Provider. This was the highlight of our Morocco vacation. Thank you Ikram, Mohamed, and Hassan!
