4 Day Backroads Adventure Quest from the Colorado Springs Airport. To the old mining supply town of Gardner. To the Sand Dunes Hot Springs Pool. To the old Railroad town of Salida, and back to the COS Airport over 4 days.

Ride old Railroad Right-of-ways on this spectacular 600 mile 4 day ride on Little-known Backroads on an outstanding Club Adventure Quest over Halloween.

Gear Portage. 5 Meals. Hot Springs Pass. Camping included on Days 1 & 2.

This is a huge loop Adventure around Pikes Peak:

• 600 Mile loop over that is over 60 % off- road.

• From the Colorado Springs airport.

• Up and around the East and South side of Pike Peak on old railroad lines on the first Day.

• Over the Sangre De Cristo mountain range to a Hot Spring on Day 2.

• Day 3 into the Northern San Juan mountains and Bonanza mining area and then over the highest pass on Hwy 50.

• Day 4 ride thru the high plains West of Pikes Peak to the gambling mecca of Cripple Creek and Victor then around the largest gold mine in Colorado.

• From the West & North side of Pike Peak return on dirt Rampart Range road to Garden of the Gods and the airport with an option to ride up Pikes Peak.

• Navigation by Ride with GPS tracks with Voice turn cues with a blue tooth headset.

• Or GPX tracks are available and included.

• DAY 1 on private property near the remote old mining town of Gardner.

• DAY 2 Camp at the Sand Dunes Pool. Showers with 2 Restaurants available. Dinner and Hot Spring passes are included.

• DAY 3 Lodging is on you. At the Poncha Springs Lodge. Where Cozy & Adventure collide.

• You could also stay at the newest hotel in Salida. The Hampton Inn.

WEATHER IN LATE OCTOBER

• It has not snowed on Halloween since 1972

• Temperatures are typically 70-30 f in late October

• The Old Farmer's Almanac highlights late November as an initial period for above-normal snowfall across parts of the region in 2026.

• If your worried about being cold, we can portge a blanket or you could bring sweats to sleep in.

• The Club has tents, sleeping bags, pads and pillows available for rent.

Very few stop lights or traffic the whole 4 days. You'll be disappointed to be back in civilization on Day 4.

DAY 1 from the COS Airport to Gold Camp Rd to Victor. To Phantom Cyn. Canon City to Oak Creek Grade. To Silvercliffe to Bishop Castle. To Gardner. Overnight camping in Gardner on Private property.

DAY 2 to Medano Pass to the Great Sand Dunes. Or Pass Creek Pass to La Veta Pass to Fort Garland. To the GSD. Both options to the Sand Dunes Hot Springs Pool. Camp Overnight at the Sand Dunes Pool. Day 2 is short and easy ride, then relax at the Hot Springs. Great food at the sand Dunes Pool. Pass Creek Pass there is no Sand.

• Easy Loop is 60% Off-Road.

• Challenging Loop is Shorter and 51% Off-Road.

DAY 3 to La Garita to Canero Pass to Saguache. To Ute Pass to Bonanza. To the Otto Mears Toll-road to Silver Creek. To Poncha Springs Lodge. Overnight. 

• Easy Loop is 57% Off-Road.

• Challenging Loop is 74% Off-Road.

DAY 4 to Salida. Towards Aspen Ridge to CR 175 to CR 1. To Hwy 9. To Hwy 50 to Skyline Drive. Shelf Creek Road to Cripple Creek. Around the CC&V mine to down Gold Camp Rd to the COS airport.

LOOP OPTIONS

• DAY 1 Options between Bishop Castle and Gardner on Day 1.

• Day 2 options of Medano Pass or Pass Creek Pass, both to Hot Springs Pool

• Medano Pass is through the back of the Great Sand Dunes. Not into the Dunes, but sandy.

• Pass Creek Pass avoids the Sand.

• DAY 3 easy Option is to skip the Otto Mears Toll road and ride over Poncha Pass to the Old Railroad line which is Marshall Pass to Old Monarch Pass to Old Monarch Pass. The highest point on the route.

• DAY 4 Ride back to Colorado Springs on an exceptional route with as much Dirt as possible.

• Option to ride up Pikes Peak on Day 4 if you wish.

CLUB RIDE DETAILS:

This Ride is on Adventure Bike suitable routes. You could drive your wife's Subaru over. Just not possible in a car at a suitable speed to complete the route on schedule.

We are not out to torture anyone. This is an un-guided rides with cell phone compatible GPS tracks, even without a cell signal.

• The Club insists everyone use the Buddy System and look out for each other.

• You leave when you wish, ride the pace you want to, with whomever you want to.

• Team up with friends, new or old.

NAVIGATION - RIDE with GPS:

• Navigate with easy to use phone-compatible Ride with GPS tracks.

• Voice turn-cues with a blue tooth headset. Or GPX tracks available.

• Ride with GPS Club Membership is included with Club Membership.
