The Blue Souk
The Souk al-Markazi (Central Market), popularly known as the Blue Souk, consists of two large buildings, interconnected by bridges, with exuberant vaults and a unique skyline of 20 wind towers. Because of the blue tiles on the outside walls, the market is called the Blue Souk. On a total area of approximately 80,000 sqm, there are more than 600 shops, selling gold, jewelry, gems, perfumes, souvenirs, and gifts, as well as electronics, clothes, cosmetics, household, and other goods.
Shopping at Spice and Gold Souks
Shopping at Traditional Souks, such as Dubai Spice Souks, will expose you to Arab-style marketplaces where goods are bought and sold. Bargaining allows you to acquire different commodities, such as spice, gold, textiles, and perfumes.
Souk Madinat Jumeirah is a popular marketplace in Dubai. It’s interconnected with waterways, lined with bars and bistros, as well as offers a picture-perfect view of the Burj Al Acrab. Here, you can get adrift in a maze of stalls and browse everything from oud perfumes and glimmering jewelry to fragrant spices and Turkish pottery. You can also plan for an alfresco meal and soak in the good vibes outdoors. That’s not all—the best way to admire the bazaar is to hop on a traditional Emirati-style gondola and sail along the tranquil waterways.
