After leaving Dublin Airport we will make our way to the Seaside Pitch & Putt just next to Laytown & Bettystown Golf Club.  Our round at L&B is set for 1:10 PM so we will have plenty of time for Pitch & Putt and lunch and drinks prior to teeing it up in the afternoon.  This will be the start of a great day!

As we head north from Dublin we will make our way to our first round of golf @ Laytown & Bettystown Links Golf Club.  Discovered recently by Big Drew, this course will be host to a jet lagged Drew and after 10 days in country, Dan will be sweating out over 100 Guinnesses as they work there way through the dunes en route to their first sub 90 round to kick things off.  The best experiences in Ireland are often golf courses that are lesser known, this one is sure to please!  After the round we will offer you your first true Guinness in the pub and then we will make our way to the town of Drogheda where will be staying for our first evening.

After a long day of travelling and playing golf what else could one want other than squeezing into a twin bed a mere two feet away from Dan.  This may not be everybody's dream, but it will be your reality so you may as well embrace it.

Scholars Hotel is aptly named for the two of us so we should fit in just fine.  Situated 30 miles north of Dublin it will eliminate a ton of driving on our first day and will give us some time to wind down.  The hotel is located in the heart of Drogheda so there will be plenty of pubs and some great food within steps of the front door!

Ardglass is one of the best courses going and has one of my favorite features on a links golf course, which is that you start and finish in the heart of a town.  Teeing off against the castle on #1 with a drive that is all over water, this has to be one of the finest starting holes in the world.  The holes here are as true a links as you will find and the round ends on a fantastic 18th with the town and clubhouse in the backdrop.  After play here, we will take the drive to Sligo where we will spend the next two nights.

The Glasshouse has the perfect location of all hotels in Sligo.  Everything in town is a short walk and we will surely make a stop at Donaghy's Coach Lane Steakhouse. 

Enniscrone is home to yet another seaside Pitch & Putt.  If we feel up to it we can easily squeeze in a round here prior to teeing it up at Enniscrone later that afternoon!  Any chance I have to play a round of golf with only a wedge is tough for me to turn down.

 Enniscrone has quickly climbed into my top-5 courses in all of Ireland.  This course is home to the wildest dunes I have ever seen on a golf course and the views of the sea are spectacular.  The fox of Enniscrone will surely be following us for a few holes and you will notice the small town warmth of this club as soon as we arrive on site.  Enniscrone is known to be the friendliest club on the island of Ireland and I am definitely excited that we are going to be playing this golf course together.  It is also home to my favorite post round pint, the welcoming atmosphere makes one Guinness not nearly enough. 

 County Sligo golf club is a course that is typically overlooked on many golf trips... I am glad I found it and have been fortunate to play it many times.  The West of Ireland Championship has been hosted here many times and Sligo has hosted when some of the best have won it during their youth... Rory McIlory, Shane Lowry and Padraig Harrington to name a few.  The clubhouse is surrounded by history and the trophy room is something to behold.  Sligo is not your typical Irish links course, the change in elevation and wandering stream throughout the course certainly give it more of a Scottish feel which makes it a fun place to play.   

A romantic dinner for the two of us where we can split a Tomahawk steak.  Home to one of the best meals in Ireland, this should help me seal the deal on our last night in Sligo!  In the picture you can see the full bellies of our Deer Run members exiting the restaurant.

Not exactly the Ritz but we will be getting in late and heading straight to the airport early in the morning.
