Join Toni and Ty for a spring retreat at Ebbio Tuscany, a 13th-century restored farmhouse in the countryside of Tuscany, near Florence and Siena.
The thick walls and terracotta tiles of the house keep the guests cool in the summer and cosy in the winter, and the many windows let the lavender-scented breeze come through. Much of Ebbio life is spent outdoors, often at the large communal tables under the shade of the pergolas. There are plenty of chairs in the sun and hammocks in the shade, ideal for sunbathing, reading or star-gazing.
Expect daily Katonah Yoga practices, 0km seasonal veggie meals prepared from the farm, time to explore, adventure, unwind, deepen your yoga practice, get to know new people, and spend time with friends. We have 6 nights to recharge, rest and retreat together.
Arrival and check in:
Check-in is from 4pm. On our first day we will check in, meet the group, unpack and unwind after our travels and then enjoy dinner with the group.
Please note:
A valid passport must be presented upon arrival for state registration
A mandatory lodging tax of €2 (in cash) per person per day is due upon check-in
Departure:
Check-out is before 10am. There will be a final morning practice for the early risers before we head home.
Getting there:
We suggest considering these options:
Car Rental: It is strongly recommend to rent a car for the duration of your stay, especially if you are considering doing excursions and activities more than a walk's distance from the farm
Airport Transfer: Ebbio offers an airport transfer service for an additional fee, which you can arrange directly with them
Shared Rides: As we get closer to our arrival dates, let us know if we can connect you with other retreaters who might want to share rides or rental cars
Ebbio is about 60km from Florence Airport, 90km from Pisa Airport, and 300km from Rome Airport. If you require information about direct transportation options from any of these airports, let us know by Aug 14th and we will connect you with Ebbio.
From Pisa Airport, you have the option to take a train from Pisa to Monteriggioni and then arrange local transportation from Monteriggioni. From Rome Airport, you can take a train to Florence and subsequently arrange for car transport from Florence to Ebbio.
Prices are variable according to the different companies, availability and season.
Toni and Ty are Katonah Yoga teachers based in Berlin and New York City.
Find out more info about them here:
Ebbio is a restored 13th century farm beautifully transformed in a tranquil spot for retreats and holidays. Nestled inside an evergreen forest, it sits on an extinct volcano that was sacred to the Etruscans, and overlooks the medieval walled town of Monteriggioni.
Ebbio’s family includes Sibilla, Francesca, Nyshi, Bardhyl, Jane, Elkabira, the beloved Wwoofers, as well as geese, chickens, horses, donkeys, dogs, cats and plenty of butterflies. The country ways of old Italy are preserved here, where they dedicate themselves to the organic cultivation of their olive trees, vineyards, fruit, vegetables and herbs, which they then use in preparing home-made vegetarian meals. The unique décor of the bedrooms builds on this traditional heritage, with earthly colours and windows onto the rolling Tuscan hills.
Ebbio prides themselves on their use of fresh, locally sourced ingredients, primarily the produce grown on site, which is certified organic. Ebbio’s kitchen is professional use only. All their meals are designed following our garden produce, organic, km0, vegetarian and served buffet style.
Ebbio's sustainability:
"We believe in responsible travel, and strive to demonstrate the model for sustainable living. Our guests can participate in work on the farm, get their hands dirty and bring the lessons home to live a more mindful life. We are committed to nine criteria for measuring our impact as an organisation: energy, water, food, waste, carbon footprint, education, health, employment and happiness. We are constantly working to improve our systems with renewable energies, heating via biomass, waste recycling, gray and black water treatment and reuse, compost and permaculture. We work closely with the local community, farmers and artisans alike, to raise awareness and create a positive impact through workshops."

What is Katonah Yoga?
Katonah Yoga® is a syncretic Hatha yoga practice developed by Nevine Michaan over 40 years. She and her teachers incorporate classical Hatha yoga with Taoist theory, geometry, magic, mythology, metaphor, and imagination — in a practical framework designed to potentiate personal and communal well-being. Framing the practice, maps of time and personal space are defined and refined. Themes using asana as origami, manipulating form for function, and developing a sense of personal measure are incorporated in Katonah Yoga practices.
Katonah Yoga is organized around three principles of esoteric dialogue: all polarities are mediated by trinity; the universe has pattern, pattern belies intelligence; by virtue of repetition there is potential for insight. Disciplined techniques are organized for revelation through revolutions.
