This crazy Ecuadorian Dutch guy organized one of the best trips ever. From cultural highlight is Quito to the Amazone to the Andes mountains. All days fully packed with high impact action ranging from horse riding to rafting to canyoning to mountainbiking and even climbing 2 mounatin up to 5300 meters. Beautiful hotels and excellent restaurants. I would recommend this to evryone. Ecuador is a highly under appreciated tourist country where many tourists are not yet there. Enjoying the city, the mountains, the Amazon end you can even enjoy the beaches or go to Galapolos which we unfortunately did not have the time for.

We recently spent just under 10 days traveling through Ecuador, and the experience was absolutely unforgettable. Our trip took us from the historic streets of Quito to breathtaking mountain peaks, where we climbed two impressive volcanoes and enjoyed some of the most stunning cycling routes we’ve ever experienced. The landscapes were incredibly diverse, ranging from dramatic high altitude vistas to lush rainforest scenery. One of the highlights was exploring the Amazon and rainforest regions, an immersive, once in a lifetime experience filled with wildlife, vibrant nature, and genuine cultural encounters. Every part of the itinerary was thoughtfully planned, and the trip ran smoothly from start to finish. The accommodations exceeded our expectations as well. We stayed in comfortable, high quality hotels and lodges that offered great service and authentic charm, allowing us to rest well after full days of adventure. Overall, the journey was exceptionally well organized, adventurous, and beautifully varied. We highly recommend this trip to anyone looking to explore Ecuador’s incredible natural beauty and rich culture. An amazing experience from beginning to end!

Our family had a fantastic bike ride near Cotopaxi. We were so glad we didn't have to leave Cotopaxi itself on a bad road, but that Eric knew of a bike path in the nature reserve surrounding Cotopaxi. We saw beautiful scenery and even wild horses. We were provided with good bikes, excellent guides, and a great lunch. It was a very enjoyable experience. Eric is an enthusiastic storyteller and knows how to find nice spots away from the tourist traps.

When planning our honeymoon in Ecuador we knew we wanted to fit in a biking trip. We did a lot of research of various companies and settled on the Biking Dutchman owing to the interesting itineraries, reasonable prices and the rave reviews from previous satisfied tourists. We did the 3 day tour including Cotopaxi, Quilotoa and Chimborazo. We were the only couple on the tour, meaning it was essentially a 3 day private tour of Ecuador. Andreas, our guide, and Cesar, our driver, were excellent from start to finish. Andreas was always available and thoughtful. He is very knowledgeable and was passionate about Ecuador, its history, culture and of course, biking. Cesar was also amazing throughout. We always felt safe with his driving and it was a comfort to know that the support vehicle was always close by if we had a mechanical or any other issue (thankfully we didn't!). He was extremely helpful and prepared the most delicious lunches that accommodated our dietary requirements. Each day offered us a different experience. The first an extensive tour of Cotopaxi natural park, with noone else around. Andreas led us to natural springs and Inca ruins plus the descent from 4800m. That night we slept in a quirky hotel situated at ~4200m, on the edge of a volcanic crater, where in addition our host made us a delicious vegetarian dinner and a wood-burning stove in our room kept us toasty warm overnight as the outside temperature dropped to 0C. The 2nd day we visted Quilotoa lake, before descending to a traditional market where we could buy local produce and souvenirs. The biking trails were a mix of asphalt and dirt tracks and were deserted of people. You would only find these with the help of a guide. That night we stayed in Riobamba and Andreas gave us a private tour of the city while Cesar prepared our food for the following day. The 3rd day was the pinnacle. We hiked the final 300m to the basestation of Chimborazo situated at just over 5000m. We then biked down flowing single track with a spectacular backdrop of arguably the 'highest' mountain on earth. Andreas and Cesar, then proceeded to guide us down 2500m of winding road decent to Ambato via settlements of the indigenous communities and impressive gorges. Biking Dutchman also provided us with bespoke transport to our next destination at a very reasonable price and Cesar was on hand to take us there. We were very impressed with the service quality and care provided during our 3 day trip. The hardtail Trek bikes are of sufficent quality for the distance and terrain but could potentially benefit from a service and replacement tyres and pedals. If you're thinking at all about doing a bike tour in Ecuador we thoroughly recommend Biking Dutchman and Cesar and Andreas!
