United Roots: A Middle Passage Tribe Homecoming is a powerful journey for men, women, and families who want to experience Ghana not simply as visitors, but as descendants returning to the land that holds their ancestral stories. This intergenerational pilgrimage invites households and communities to honor the past, celebrate the present, and plant seeds for the future.
This homecoming allows participants to walk the roads their ancestors once walked, stand in the Door of No Return, now the Door of Return, and reflect on the strength and spirit of the Middle Passage Tribe. The group visits Cape Coast and Elmina Castle, explores the lively energy of Accra, enjoys traditional foods, shops, bustling markets, relaxes on Ghana’s beautiful beaches, and engages in community service that supports and uplifts local partners.
Families gain a deeper understanding of their heritage. Adults reconnect with identity and a shared sense of belonging. The experience blends historical reflection with cultural celebration so that every participant feels welcomed, grounded, and connected.
It is a collective homecoming open to all adults and families, centered on cultural education, remembrance, unity, and the celebration of legacy. It reminds the Middle Passage Tribe (Saidiya Hartman, Lose Your Mother) that although our ancestors were scattered across oceans, our roots remain strong, and our return stands as a testament to survival, resilience, and enduring connection.
United Roots is a living reminder that we belong to a story larger than ourselves, and when we return together, we return stronger.
