Imagine yourself escaping to a secluded, laid-back tropical island in the Bahamas for an extraordinary yoga, meditation, and breathwork retreat. You'll feel a million miles away on Cat Island. Untainted by tourism, this secluded island is the perfect place for those seeking ultimate peace and relaxation on their yoga retreat. Come solo or bring a friend for this ultimate island and yoga experience.
During this retreat you can:
Join us for 5 days and 4 nights at Greenwood Beach Resort in Port Howe, a tranquil oceanfront resort with an intimate atmosphere, a freshwater pool, miles of pink sand beaches, and turquoise waters.
We will offer 2-3 movement sessions per day.
The first movement session of the day will be a Kundalini Yoga-inspired Morning Sadhana with Lia B. During this morning practice, we will tap into our higher consciousness through light movement, meditation, chanting, and rest. Morning Sadhana can help create harmony and self-awareness, a beautiful way to start each day.
The second and third movements of the day will be Buti Yoga classes with Julia Hernandez. Buti yoga "incorporates a spiral structure technique® used to activate our deep core muscles paired with intentional shaking & vibration to release trauma stored at the cellular level. Primal movement, cardio dance + conditioning are seamlessly woven throughout balanced yoga sequencing to give you an ALL-IN-ONE workout." - butiyoga.com
Movement and meditation sessions are appropriate for all levels and experiences.
Escapism, seclusion, and pristine beaches are what the Out Islands of the Bahamas are all about. Cat Island is only 130 miles from Nassau, but it feels 1,000s of miles away. The island contains unexplored beaches, hidden coves, abundant sea life, and clear blue waters.
You can climb Mount Alvernia, the highest point in the country at 206 feet above sea level to visit a miniature monastery to take in 360 views of the island.
There are over 50 miles of nature trails, fishing marinas, sharks, stingrays, and sea turtles. You can visit rustic villages, thatched roof tiki bars, go conch shell hunting, or do absolutely nothing at all.
*Remember, this is a secluded island and you won't find the plentiful amenities that you would in Nassau.*
While we have integrated 2-3 movement practices per day and optional off-site activities into the itinerary. We want to make sure you have downtime to relax and spend your time with us as you see fit!
At the resort, you can relax by the pool, swim in the ocean, layout in the sun, or go for a peaceful walk on the 8-mile beach where you might not see another person.
There is also complimentary use of snorkel equipment and kayaks.
Julia Hernandez was certified to teach power yoga in 2014 by the Baptiste Institute, Anjali. Having experienced postpartum difficulties, she kept reading, studying, and showing up on her mat. Yoga changed her life, and relationships with herself and others, allowing her to handle the stressors of life through a new lens. Growing up, Julia was an avid ballerina and hip-hop dancer. So when she discovered that Buti yoga allowed her to combine her two passions, she fell in love with the practice and became certified in 2018. Julia is so excited to share Buti yoga and allow people to make deep connections with their energy centers through movement and breath. Additionally, she is a devotee of the Wim Hoff method, meditation, and kundalini breathwork. When Julia is not on the mat, you can find her making people beautiful from the inside out. She is a successful hairstylist who enjoys spending time with her husband, and two children.
Lia B. started her yoga journey in 2003 by practicing various forms of yoga-everything from Hatha to Aerial. In 2021, she embarked on a solo trip to rural Costa Rica for a Kundalini Yoga Retreat. There, she fell in love with the practice and decided to devote her spare time to studying kundalini yoga and self-mastery. In 2023, she became certified by Aura Kundalini Yoga in Berkeley, California. After building a budding career in academic medicine, she decided to honor her passion for yoga, travel, and adventure and founded Lilia Rising. Lilia Rising will offer private and personalized kundalini yoga classes and boutique retreat planning services to yoga teachers and other wellness professionals wanting to make their dreams of hosting retreats a reality.
Devin H. started her Reiki journey in 2018 after suffering from severe vertigo. After experiencing the many benefits of energy work, and relieving her vertigo, she became a certified Usi/Holy Fire Reiki practitioner. Devin has created her own unique modality of combining reiki with binaural beats for an enhanced experience for her clients. Devin will be offering oceanfront Reiki services at the resort during the retreat.

Cat Island, like the other Out Islands, is a special place. While there are direct flights to this island from the US and Nassau, a bit more travel planning is necessary due to the limited number of flights per week- But that's what makes Cat so special, it gets you in touch with discovering places that are "off the beaten path".
Please see the link below to learn more about airport expectations in the Out Islands.
It may be necessary to spend the night in Nassau the day before and the day after the retreat to accommodate the limited flight schedule.
There are plenty of accommodations (Airbnb or hotels) to choose from that are close to the airport in Nassau.
NOTE: Paradise Island and downtown Nassau are approximately a 20-30 minute drive and cost $80-100 in cab fare.
