Level 1 Beginner Training

Off-road skills don’t happen overnight.  We want you to feel comfortable when you transition from the pavement to the dirt, and our training will help you build the finesse required to adventure ride safely.  Breaking down each movement into easy-to-understand steps is the key to our training.  The Triple Threat—or clutch, brake, and throttle—is one example of our focus on the fundamentals of controlling the motorcycle at slow speeds.  By re-learning how to precisely control the actions of clutching, braking, and throttling, you’ll maximize your riding capability using this core principle.  The Triple Threat is the backbone of our training program, and it carries over into every exercise we do. One thing is for sure…you will have a lot more confidence, the necessary tools, and refined skills to help you “Ride your Ride.” Also consider adding the 1 Day Upgrade Beyond Training Ride to further enhance the experience and practice what you’ve learned!

This is your event. We are here to help you succeed in your own way. West38Moto offers a different experience than other off-road motorcycle training and tour companies. We recognize that not everyone functions well outside their comfort zone, while others want to be pushed out if it. People learn at different speeds, in distinctive ways, and will reach individualized goals. Because everyone has to start somewhere, our focus is on teaching off-road fundamentals at your pace and expanding the size of your comfort zone.

Excellent class! Learned a lot. The instructors were amazing with deep knowledge and communication skills that were clear & concise and custom tailored to my learning needs. They worked hard and gave me what I needed without overwhelming me. I highly recommend this class to anyone getting started with ADV riding. It would take years of random riding to get these skills. It got me way up the big-bike ADV learning curve.

Dusty and team were awesome! I came out of this course with far more skills than I expected. Their teaching style works really well for me and seemed to be effective for the rest of the group as well. They met each individual at their own skill level for every exercise. They also spent a lot of extra time after the classes discussing riding and route planning skills, gear, and individual skill growth. Awesome group! The value per dollar is well worth it. I will be back for level 2 and level 3 without a doubt.

I had a great time with Dusty in training. He is very personable and makes learning easy. I was very nervous with my big bike and now I have confidence that I did not have before. Penmeryl Farm was a fantastic location to have this training. I hope to see more of West28Moto and Penmeryl Farm.

I did the 2 day training with West 38 Moto (not at the Farm, Thunder Valley). West 38 has a well defined course structure that takes you through basics and more, leaving room for instructor adjustments. John was well-prepared and provided great tips and found a good balance of instruction and letting me learn. Very enjoyable sessions and I learned a ton!

What a great off road training!! The instruction was professional, supportive, and fun. The FARM was a great course to practice slow maneuvers on a variety of terrain and obstacles. Well worth the time and money. I'll be returning.

Amazing class. I had Dusty and Matt for my adv training. I'd originally signed up for level 1 but Dusty helped sort me into the Level 2 group which we agreed was more appropriate and my best learning environment. Dusty is fantastic instructor and was as attentive and knowledgeable. When asked a question you can tell you get Dusty's full attention, he stops whatever he is doing and focuses completely on you and your needs providing thoughtful and thorough answers. Matt as well provided very insightful alternative comments and helped setup the drills while providing a different take and personal experience to each lesson. The class was completely safe and done professionally with highest regard to student learning and safety. I wouldn't hesitate to send anyone to this class beginner or advanced. You will learn and have fun here. During a 1 day ride post-class, when the trail got tougher than expected, I never doubted the Dusty had the ability and knowledge to handle any situation adventure could throw at us. Which it did with tough trails, medical issues, heat related dangers, etc. in the AZ desert. Dusty had my complete trust not only in my personal safety but in the techniques he was teaching and I have very high standards. If you are new to a adv class then this is perfect and you will be handled with white gloves and learn everything you need to be a better safer rider. If you are an advanced rider then you will dial in your techniques with the their teachings and become an even more competent rider. I have nothing negative to say about the training or class. Great job and I will be doing a BDR with Dusty and\or Matt soon and looking forward to the experience. I have no doubt I will continue to sign up for training, BDRs, and anything else West38moto has to offer as my funds and time allow for years to come. Thanks Matt and Dusty, looking forward to riding again with you.
