Do you want to cycle on empty roads, through a forgotten part of Spain - Once a great medieval kingdom. Sometimes it will seem more like Arizona than Aragon. Often known as 'Espana Vacaaida' (Empty SPace), its a depopulated, rugged landscape away from the tourist areas. Once you leave the coastline behind, its a landscape of crusader castles and medieval villages that seem to cling to the rocky outcrops. Amazing geological formations abound, yet its one of the least visited parts of Spain ........ making it a cyclists open road. Wonderful. Staring in the Valencia Region, we quickly cycle into the southern part of Aragon, before turning back into Valencia.   MountainsThe region's interior is mountainous, especially in the north and west. The Altiplano de Requena-Utiel range is in the interior and averages about 750 meters in height. Its not as tough an area as the Picos, Pyrenees, Sistema or SIeera Nevada, but it will still offer us some great cycling.  ValleysThe region has deep and steep valleys formed by major rivers. I suppose we might cycle up one or two of these......  Other landscapesThe region also includes wetlands, beaches, pine and oak forests, juniper bushes, Mediterranean garrigue, palm plantations, orange orchards, citrus fruit plantations, vegetable gardens, and rice paddies. We will be trying to experience as much of the region as we can !

The Spanish Sistema Mountains

This was an exceptional cycling trip. While the great weather and friendly and interesting other participants were fortunate, the first-class organisation of Martyn Ryan from ACT was a huge contributory factor. Martyn's experience and commitment is unusual possibly unique. He picks up and delivers the bikes in his own van, chooses the hotels, find and rides the routes in advance, irons out any problems and then rides the whole daily route as a sweeper each day. He doesn't delegate problem-solving or administration to others, he does it himself while remaining friendly and accessible regardless. This is impressive but also adds to the holiday. His hand-picked (in this case related) helpers were hard-working, efficient, unflappable and smiley. I thought I knew both the region of Spain and about cycling holidays, and learned more about both. Truly a great experience. And the £450 single person supplement may be the best money spent, for all concerned. Thank you

Along the Danube....Eventually !! (FULL)

We had a fantastic time. Tough tour but worth the pain. The accommodation & food was superb. Great company to cycle with. 

The trip was organised to perfection, the support crew were fantastic. When I damaged my bike I was given a spare one which saved my holiday from being a bit of a disaster. I would highly recommend this company. 

A meander through the Black Forest and Voges Mountains on a bike. There isn’t a much better way to spend 6 days. An excellent, well planned tour staying in some fine hotels. 

THE FOREST - .... (FULL)

As always every aspect of the tour taken care of by Martyn from picking up and delivering back our bikes and kit, to the amazing accommodation we stayed in
 The routes were made tougher by the intense high temperatures we endured, the road surfaces were generally good, but there were a couple of dirt tracks which was more suitable for gravel bikes. People were very friendly and the food was excellent and extremely good value. Fantastic scenery especially the forest regions where we saw Bears and Wolf. Looking forward to the next ACT tour.


Slovakia - A Hidden Gem

Slovakia is the most besutiful country - golden yellow crop fields and lush forests. Lovely quiet roads, relatively gentle climbs and smooth descents. Although not as well developed for cycling as some of the more popular destinations, it doesn't fall short in creating a superb environment to enjoy a day on the bike. Most surprising are the amazing hotels (inc. a 12th century castle!) and delicious food with plenty of choice. As always, Martyn finds the best routes to explore a country so you feel safe as well as gain an understanding the culture and people. Thoroughly recommended.

This was a great supported bike tour in the lovely Slovenian countryside.  Thank you ACT!

Lovely trip. Great organisation and interesting routes with good mix of terrain. Another very enjoyable ACT tour. 

A fantastic route through amazing countryside. Seamless transfers of bikes and kit, well researched routes and hotels tailored to our group by Martyn. Well sited lunch stops with weather protection and a selection of fresh fruit and sandwiches prepared daily by Amanda… this trip couldn’t have been better…

Volta a Catalunya (ACT Style - FULL)

Catalunya - A great week on good roads, swish hotels and lovely food.

This was our 4th trip with ACT and like all the previous it didn’t disappoint at all. Martyn (Head Honcho at ACT) manages to combine fantastic challenging rides, and for all the tours we’ve done a great group dynamic between all the riders. Hotels, food stops etc are all top rate. 

Already looking forward to our 2026 Black Forest tour which we’ve already booked to secure our places. 

This was a very good trip and well organised. Spyros. Katerina, and Martyn were excellent hosts and put together an excellent series of cycle rides over challenging routes. The restaurants each evening were good with two stand out places in Nemea. My suggestion for the future is to cut down the lengthy lunches as most cyclists want to spend time cycling and minimise time off the bike. The idea of cultural visits to significant sites was good and enjoyable although again this was time off the bike.

We had a great trip.   The scenery was amazing, the routes were well thought out, the accommodations and food were fantastic.  Martyn did a great job with all the logistics and it made it easy to just show up and ride.

This was a wonderful trip and the cycling was fab along excellent roads through beautiful landscapes. The trip was very well organised by Martyn and his choices of hotels was spot on. Many thanks to his assistants Ann and John, and I can't recommend enough this tour and all the others organised by Martyn and Act Tours. Simply the best.

Great cycling in Spain. Routes offered an enjoyable, fun window on the region ( despite the weather at times).  Group had cohesion and provided many moments of fun/laughter/support.  Van support was first class. I enjoyed the second night in hotel as a variation on normal tour design.  Tour leader: excellent as ever with his logistics skills, ability to overcome the inevitable hiccups and the product he has produced.  The proof is 5 cyclists from USA that think ACT the best and book up for more tours

Really good adventure. Shame weather made some of the trails slippery as would have been doable in the dry. Good food and good company - overall another excellent tour by Martyn.

Italian Dolmites

Quite a superb itinerary for our cycling in The Dolomites, from Bergamo to Verona. 
Some really tough days, some gentler days. 
All atmospheric and scenic. 
Climbing the Gavia Pass was my highlight without doubt. 

Martyn does it again! Great routes (albeit challenging at times!), great company with comfortable accommodation and the smiling faces of J&C welcoming us at every stop along the way. I cannot recommend ACT Cycling too highly. Four tours done, bring on next year!

The Spanish Sierras

My fourth trip with Martyn and ACT - again awesome, possibly the best yet! Great routes, amazing scenery and brilliant hotels. Would  thoroughly recommend. 

The scenary is stunning, every day different and  a jaw dropping view around every corner. Amazing descents, smooth tarmac, little traffic, supported by the excellent team with plenty of food and drinks. A tour I would do again if the legs were willing!! Thank you to Martyn and a fab group of new friends.

Neither bike insurance or travel insurance are included. You are highly recommended to have both for the tour.

This is a small hotel based holiday. Prices are based on sharing in twin rooms. Single Supplement for this tour is £500.&nbsp;If opting to share, this must be with a friend or partner.&nbsp;If no one else is prepared to share with someone wanting a twin room, then the single supplement is payable. Ideally you should sign up with a friend to enable you to share a twin room. ACT is reluctant to allow strangers to share a twin room.

We cycle straight up into the mountains.&nbsp;There is the Parc Natural de la Serra Calderona to the north, Lots of smaller parks to the south, and even more as you travel west into the interior ( Hoces del Cabriel Natural Park, Parque Natural Puebla de San Miguel, and many many more).

• DISTANCE – Approximately 330 miles (approximately 30,000 ft of climbing) • BIKES – Ride your own bike ! Collection and delivery can be arranged, door to door, and back, for an extra £65 each way • FULLY SUPPORTED TOUR, with 6 days cycling, averaging approximately 60 - 70 miles a day. 7 nights accommodation. Cycling leader plus support vehicle carrying luggage. • ACTIVITY LEVEL – 8/10 – challenging. • FLIGHTS – Fly into Valencia, Saturday 3rd October (or earlier). We believe your tour experience will be enhanced if you are able to ride a bike you are comfortable on, and familiar with. So, with that in mind, we will transport your bike to and from the start/finish of a tour. Our support vehicles are adapted to carry bikes in a safe and secure manner which gives you the peace of mind that you will be ready to get cycling on day one without any major rebuilding of bikes required. Just the front wheel will need to be put back on. Your bike can be collected and delivered back to your door for £65 each way.If you would prefer, we can arrange bike hire. This cost covers transport and customs documentation
