Look out for the amazing wildlife that Vancouver Island is home, such as sea lions, seals, whales, orcas, and bald eagles between our dives. You can encounter Large Cold Water Nudibranchs amongst many other types of nudibranchs, Giant Pacific Octopus, Wolf Eels, Puget Sound King Crabs, Red Irish Lords, huge Lingcod, different species of rockfish and sculpins, and more! The Boat and Diving:

  • The diving package is through Abyssal Diving Charters, owned and operated by Earl Lowe.

  • Captain Earl has a very trusty aluminum hull dive boat decked out to fit 8-10 divers comfortably. It is reliable, fast, and can accommodate any type of diver.

  • It is a fully exposed deck equipped with a small compartment for storing dry items, overhead storage space, and a large freshwater camera bucket for camera rinsing and storage. Snacks and hot chocolate/tea are provided.

  • The boat is equipped with locked, in-seat storage where you will store your gear between dive days.

  • All the dives are LIVE DIVES. Meaning you will always be picked up by the boat captain no matter where you surface.

  • There are currents in Discovery Passage. Many dives may be drift dives. You will want to be comfortable in current.

  • Night Dive: This trip includes a unique opportunity to dive Campbell River at night! We will do a fun dusk dive to get into the spooky spirit. Advanced Open Water Certification or Night Diving Experience required.

Full trip brochure with helpful information will be sent upon booking.
