About this trip

"Banares is a magnificent city, rising from the western bank of the River Ganges, where the river takes a broad crescent sweep toward the north. There is little in the world to compare with the splendor of Banares, seen from the river at dawn....." Diana Eck

Varanasi is one of the oldest living cities of the world compared to Jerusalem and Athens you are stepping into ancient land. All the sages, Yogis and masters of the world have come to Varanasi including Buddha, Shankara, Krishnamacharya to learn, teach and pray. It is believed to be one of the holiest cities on the planet and by many considered to be the center of the earth as the pace of creation but sit above the earth as a crossing place between this world and the divine.

What. a. retreat. I am still processing my time in India, but traveling with Maria is hands down the best way to go. She has been so many times, and really plans out each day so well, it is organized so well that you are quickly able to settle in and enjoy. The hotel we stayed at was wonderful, they really took time to cater to our needs and their food was amazing! I told myself this was a once-in-a-lifetime trip but find myself already wondering when I can go again!

The trip was amazing! I can't say enough good things about our extraordinary guide who was always 3 steps ahead of us making sure that ever experience was perfect. The hotel and food were awesome. The excursions and events were well-planned, enjoyable, and educational. Meditation along side the Ganga at dawn, yoga practice in the beautiful yoga hall at the hotel, the spa treatments, the hiking, the cooking class, the visits to various temples, the excursion to Haridwar, evening Ganga Aarti, the visit to a rural school, and the Diwali celebration are just some of my favorite things about the trip. Everything was my favorite thing!

A brilliantly planned and orchestrated retreat, and one you'll want to repeat. Probe deep into the jungle, as well as your mind as you rise to the challenges this retreat presents. Experience of a lifetime!
