About this trip

Dear spiritual seeker,

We organize only up to four retreats every year, because we choose to preserve our energy in order to be able to give more to our participants. After all, a retreat is a place to make an internal new beginning, and this requires inspiration and energy.

Our gatherings happen in in very selected places that are chosen after our personal experience in them. The nature and vibration have to be clean, for the appropriate un-manifested conditions to be present. This is most important. So, you need to do some extra driving to get there.

The studios we stay in, are naturally placed among trees and are full of gardens. It is a perfect place for a yogic retreat and you will not find any night-life bars or crowded beaches. Our retreat program is designed for those who need to have some peaceful holidays in a beautiful natural habitat and at the same time follow the path of their spiritual quest.

As your two hosts and teachers, we have both dedicated years of daily practice (sadhana) and trips to India to be with our Gurus. During this time, we have gained precious experiences that we are prepared to share.

If what you read above expresses your inner need, we will be happy to have you with us in this unique location at the island of Crete, an unspoiled secluded bay which hosts the ruins of an ancient Minoan palace. High vibration presides the area of maybe the last original non-touristic place on the island. Watch the sun rise every morning and let the light penetrate your entire being. Practice yoga near the beautiful sea. Take part in evening meditation and mantra chanting. Express your heart with live Kirtan music. Relax in a charming stone-wood studio under the trees, feel the healing sun at a peaceful sandy beach. An experience that will quiet your mind and calm your soul.

Yoga and kirtan, Vedic mantra and meditation, beautiful sea and sandy beaches, healthy organic food and natural stone studios among trees, are the highlights of this 8-day retreat that includes 7 nights accommodation and traditional breakfast. To explore more, the ancient Minoan Palace and the entrance to the gorge are at short walking distance. Yoga experience is not required.

The location

Kato Zakros lies in the most eastern part of Crete and is probably the last original and non-touristic location on the island. The place is peaceful and unhurried, surrounded by inspiring untouched countryside. The bay was active since Minoan ages and Minoans build there their fourth founded palace, the ruins of which are one of the major attractions for visitors. For those who enjoy trekking, another major attraction is the famous ‘Gorge of the dead’, whose entrance is just 150 meters from our studios and ‘Pelekita’ (at 1hour walk), an almost unexplored cave 350 meters long, with amazing stalactite and stalagmite decoration. The beaches of Kato Zakros are covered either by pebbles or by fine sand, while it takes just 15 minutes drive to explore the nearby sandy beaches of Xerokampos.

Accommodation

The stone and wood studios are simply and rustically furnished, with a private bathroom, and an outside private sitting place. You can stay in a shared 2 or 3 beds studio, in a private studio, or in a double bed studio according to your choice. All studios are equipped with cooking facilities, while all the basic ingredients and local delicacies are provided to you to prepare your own breakfast. There will be no need to buy any bottled water, as one of the best water of Crete, straight from the Zakros source, is running through the tap. Of course there is free wi-fi and air-conditioning at every studio. In the gardens you will find sunbeds to enjoy the Cretan sun and hammocks under pergolas and trees to relish in tranquility and peace. The beach is 500 meters away and can be reached with a short drive or a beautiful walk through vegetable gardens that facilitate the locals and the few taverns.
