Join us for a long weekend in our home turf, New York City, this time, in January!
Together, we will visit the city´s latest vegan hot spots and hit up some long-time favorites of ours. Some surprises will be included as well!
Expect lots of amazing food, new friends and an unforgettable weekend in the city we love!
Note that the itinerary, especially in terms of restaurants, is subject to change since restaurants, sadly, sometimes close unexpecedly.
We will be getting around mostly by walking (weather permitting) and public transportation, which also involves taking starts up and down.
Obviously, none can predict the weather but we can say that recent winters in New York, have, for the most parts, been rather mild. By New York standards, that´s anything from 23 F/-5 C to 41 F/5 C. It can, occasionally, be much colder or even warmer. Since moving here 14 years ago, I have seen anything from -4 F/-20 C to 59 F/ 15 C, even in January (we have had a few years where we had to turn on the AC for Christmas).
So, why did we choose January for this next weekend, you wonder?
Our main reason is considerably cheaper hotel costs! January and February see the lowest hotel prices of the year and we would like to extent this benefit to you!
Deals on Broadway shows and attractions: typically, many Broadway shows as well as popular NYC attractions offer 2-4-1 deals in the slower season, which means even more savings!
Once the busy holiday season is over, people tend to stay home more, eat out less and restaurants feel that dip! By doing a tour in January, we can support them during this slower time.
See NYC with fewer tourists! Cold weather means fewer tourists, so shorter lines and fewer crowds overall.
Those are just some of the reasons we decided to give this a try!

it´s New York...
Welcome to New York!
Upon arrival in NYC, feel free to leave your bags at the hotel, or, if you arrive after 3pm, you can check right into your room.
Our hotel in centrally located with easy access to public transportation, shopping and, of course, restaurants.
Welcome dinner
Let’s get the weekend started with a welcome dinner at one of the city’s most beloved restaurants such as Spicy Moon!
Brunch walking tour
This morning, instead of having breakfast/brunch at one place, we’ll take a breakfast/brunch tour and grab bites from different places on the Lower East Side and Chinatown - think vegan croissants, bagels, vegan cheese and the like!
While noshing our way through town, we will also get to see new neighborhoods and take in as much of the city as we can.
After the tour, you are free to explore at your leisure before meeting up for a group dinner.
If it is chilly, why not head to one of the city´s spas and saunas, such as QC spa for great views of the city and relaxation?
Dinner
Tonight´s dinner will be on the fancier side such as Avant Garden or Hangawi, so feel free to dress up a litte but no need if you do not feel like it.
Museum visit
This morning, after breakfast, we will visit MoMa, The Museum of Modern Art, one of the leading modern art museums in the world. A docent will show us some of the museum´s highlights and you will have time look around on your own. Spend as much time at the museum as you wish since we will meet again in the afternoon.
Enjoy free time to explore Midtown or maybe head to Chelsea and the West Village this afternoon.
This is also your chance to join a Broadway matinee! (tickets need to be purchased by yourself).
Chocolate class
Late afternoon, we will join a chocolate class and learn all about this wonderful bean and its production process.
For our farewell dinner tonight, we will head over to Brooklyn to a restaurant such as Healthy as a Motha, a Dominican and Trinidadian restaurnt, or Isa Chandra Moskowitz´s Modern Love.
If you are still up for it, why not head to a late-night-comedy, rooftop bar (plenty have covered roofs) or Jazz club afterwards?
We will start the day with a nice breakfast and then burn off some of those calories ice skating for those who enjoy it. There are multiple rinks to choose from and we will decide as a group which one we will go to.
Sadly, it is time to wrap up our weekend together but we hope to see you again soon!
