Discover the vibrant artistry and cultural heartbeat of Loíza through the traditional craft of vejigante mask-making. Guided by master artisan Wilcelino “Celele” Pizarro and supported by trained local youth guides from the Heritage Tourism Program, you’ll carve, assemble, and paint your very own mask made from natural coconut husk—an iconic symbol of Loíza’s Afro-Puerto Rican identity.
This hands-on cultural immersion directly supports the Melodías de Esperanza Program, which provides music education and professional-level training for children and teens ages 4–18.
