It’s important to book this Danube cruise earlier than most tours and cruises for two reasons:

1. The riverboat only has 95 staterooms and so a tiny fraction of a typical ocean cruise holding 3000-6000 people. Some categories have just a few staterooms before selling out.

2. Because we apply all current special offers from Viking River Cruises: “Two For One”, Reduced Air Fare, etc. These discount offers from Viking typically expire or the discount may be reduced at the end of each month. This urgency could save you hundreds of dollars if you act now.

Inside, you are treated to a special concert played on the 17,000-pipe organ, considered Europe’s largest church organ.† Enjoy lunch onboard your ship and return to the city for further exploration on your own before departing. After breakfast, meet your local guide for a walking tour through the scenic town of Regensburg, considered one of Europe’s best-preserved medieval cities. See one of the largest groupings of 13th- and 14th-century church spires, towers, and patrician houses north of the Alps. You also encounter the 12th-century Old Stone Bridge, St. Peter’s Cathedral, and several idyllic courtyards. Take time to stroll the streets, shop, or visit Germany’s oldest restaurant, the Alte Würstküche. Lunch is served onboard your ship.

This afternoon you can take an optional excursion to visit Weltenburg Abbey and experience a short cruise through a stunning mountain pass, one of the most breathtakingly scenic bends in the Danube Narrows. Travel by road to Kelheim and board a ferryboat to explore the Danube Narrows' 400-foot chalk cliffs and dramatic scenery. Visit Weltenburg Abbey*, renowned for the dark ale brewed here by monks since 1050, rejoin your ship in Kelheim in time for dinner. Or, you may choose a full-day optional excursion to see the highlights of the grand city of Munich.

Alternately, you can join an optional Nuremberg World War II tour. Visit Zeppelin Field on foot, see Congress Hall, and spend time at the illuminating Documentation Center Museum. After breakfast, disembark and proceed to the Munich airport for our same-day, non-stop flight home. Our chartered coach returns to Central Illinois, humming a waltz of the Romantic Danube.

Or extend* your stay for three nights and experience magical Prague in the Czech Republic, the “City of a Hundred Spires.” Your Viking River motor coach takes you to Prague this morning after disembarkation. After free time for lunch, check into the hotel, the First-Class Corinthia Hotel Prague (or similar).

Central Illinois-Chicago/O’Hare-Flight

Stevie Jay & Janet welcome us aboard our private motorcoach to Chicago O’Hare. He hires skycaps to help with luggage for check-in for our flight to Budapest.

My mother and I went together on this trip and had a wonderful time. Our representative from Stevie Jay Travel was excellent - very responsive and a delight to work with. Our hosts were amazing (Alaina and Larry Kanfer). We enjoyed the group that we traveled with and the locations that were selected were perfect. On the Sail Croatia yacht, several of the crew members were exceptional and I really liked our guide. The food was very good and they were all very cognizant of my gluten restriction. I had a really nice time.

This trip was exceptionally well planned. The initial stay at a lovely hotel gave additional opportunity for exploring and jetlag recovery. The time aboard ship was above and beyond what I expected. The perfect combination of time at leisure, excellent food, congenial companions (and crew) mixed with stops that included beautiful and fascinating sights and the chance to get a lot of exercise. We enjoyed it so much.

I had another great experience with this travel agency. Our leaders, Larry and Alaina Kanfer were outstanding in every way. Especially liked the chocolate factory experience and the farm to table dinner in the vineyard. Croatia was incredibly beautiful and breathtaking! The small yacht and its crew were so accommodating and delightful. Would definitely recommend this trip!

It was a fabulous trip, the yacht was fantastic, even better than I imagined, food was delicious, the crew was so polite, kept everything very clean and tidy, assisted us with so many things and knew English well. Everything about this trip was outstanding! I had a great time!
