About this trip

Join us for an afternoon experiencing farm fresh food, the Victorian life during the 19th century as you visit the estate of one of Wisconsin’s most prosperous families, tasting of some fine wines, take a stroll through American history, and check out a variety store with literally everything you can think of.


We will start out leaving from the Onalaska American Legion at 10::30 am where we will head out to our first stop for lunch at the Driftless café a menu full of fresh organic food at a reasonable price.  Then sit back for a spell as we travel through the rolling hills of the Mississippi to our next top in Prarie Du Chein The "Villa Lois" where we will Follow the lives of the prosperous Dousman Family as you tour their Victorian home, meticulously restored to its 1890s British Arts & Crafts splendor, Trace the steps of the working women and men who kept the family estate running, as you visit the servants’ quarters, kitchen, and outbuildings, The Fur Trade Museum, Explore the landscape of our riverside site, including duck ponds, and heirloom gardens.  


On our way home we will cross the Mississippi into Marquette Iowa and stop off or some wine tasting at the Eagles landing winery (this winery is part of the Great River wine trail).  Just of short distance down the road we will check out the Effigy mound national park, park with over
