About this trip

Developing a Somatic Yoga Practice with Vine & Door Yoga Retreats.

Experience a seriously yummy somatic yoga program with a rich menu of daily yoga classes, pranayama and meditation, special workshops and seminars, private sessions and a wine tasting in a gorgeous Hungarian wine region.

Vine & Door Yoga Retreats, led by somatic yoga practitioners Melitta Konradi and Suzy Adra, curates high-quality yoga programs paired with wine tourism in the wine regions of Hungary, Italy and the Balkans. We conceived our brand through our shared love of yoga, good wine and a deep appreciation of the vibrant cultures in these regions. If you are like us and want to combine a great yoga experience with wine and regional culture in these parts of Europe, you will love what Vine & Door has to offer.

This October we will hold our annual somatic yoga retreat on Lake Balaton in Hungary, a region famous for its white wines and medium bodied red wines.

This first program explores the fundamentals of developing a somatic yoga practice. Through several somatic approaches you will discover or experience more deeply the anatomical, kinesthetic and energetic relationships and inner to outer dialogue that form the heart of a somatic practice. This retreat is perfect for anyone interested in going deeper with their yoga practice, especially practitioners who want to add somatic methods to their teaching platform.

Participation in the program's activities is optional although we hope you will want to participate in most of the offerings. Please feel free to take time for yourself for reflection and personal healing. We have created a rich retreat program that is balanced with space and time for rest, relaxation and self-care.

  • twice daily yoga classes (Yin Yoga and Flow Yoga)
  • daily pranayama
  • evening meditation and discussion
  • what is a somatic practice? (seminar)
  • embodied anatomy (class)
  • somatic movement workshop
  • the emotional body (seminar)
  • metaphysical anatomy (private sessions)
  • Thai yoga massage (private sessions)
  • forest therapy
  • dhuni fire ritual

The retreat includes a visit to a local Balaton winery on Saturday, October 13th. Participants will be able to taste delicious local wines and purchase wines to take home. Hungarian wines are very difficult to obtain outside of Hungary and the best wineries on the Balaton rarely ship to other countries, so this is a unique opportunity for wine enthusiasts. Suzy and I hope to make this an annual trip for those who love our yoga program, Hungary and Hungarian wines.

Please join us for this delicious combination of blissful movement, outstanding regional wine and breathtaking Hungarian countryside. We can't wait to see you there!

Melitta Konradi
I am a yoga practitioner, theatre director and somatic movement educator with my own retreat business, Barefoot Vision Retreats. I moved to Hungary from the U.S. last year and plan to set up my retreat center on Corfu, one of the Greek Ionian islands. I love the Balkans (Greece, Turkey, Bulgaria, Serbia, Bosnia, Croatia) and want to share the natural beauty and culture of these countries with retreat participants. I am a wine enthusiast and love the wines of these regions. I feel I have finally come home by moving to this part of the world. I love animals and travel with my cats. I am planning an animal sanctuary as part of my retreat center. I love singing and dancing, especially Sephardic music, flamenco, and Balkan line dancing. Some of my favorite books are Howard's End, Possession, Corelli's Mandolin, Resurrection, The Smith of Wooton Major, The Golden Key, The Makioka Sisters, and Gaudy Night. I also love foreign films.
