Michael Drummond is a multidisciplinary artist and fashion designer best known as a finalist on season eight of Project Runway. His client list includes actress Tori Amos, Heidi Klum, New York Fashion Week founder Fern Mallis, and Tika Sumpter, among others. Though largely self-taught, Drummond has built a career that spans fashion design, textile and costume design, and commercial styling for print and film.
Drummond’s work has been exhibited alongside legendary figures such as Vivienne Westwood, Alexander McQueen, Yoko Ono, Marcel Duchamp, and Iris Van Herpen. As a ready-to-wear designer, he blends conceptual artistry with timeless functionality.
In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, Drummond was one of the first designers to shift to mask production. His early efforts helped raise over $100,000 to produce and distribute masks, while also providing fair wages to unemployed makers during a time of economic instability.
His work has been featured in numerous exhibitions, including the solo show Being Played at the World Chess Hall of Fame (2019), A Queen Within at Seattle’s Museum of Pop Culture (2019) and the New Orleans Museum of Art (2018), and The Imagery of Chess at the World Chess Hall of Fame (2017). He has also curated exhibitions such as It’s Not You It’s Me at the Sheldon Art Galleries (2019) and Dressed at the Regional Arts Commission (2013).
In addition to his gallery work, Drummond has designed costumes for operas, dance, and theater productions across the U.S. and Europe, including Medea in Dubai (2017), and Three Penny Opera and Kinetic Field Work at Washington University (2011).
Drummond’s fashion has graced runways from Mercedes Benz Fashion Week in New York to shows in Nashville, Kansas City, Omaha, and St. Louis. His designs and creative contributions have been featured in The New York Times, The New York Post, Huffington Post, The St. Louis Post-Dispatch, The Tennessean, Alive Magazine, St. Louis Magazine, Hipster Magazine, and The Vital Voice.

Check-in and meet for an afternoon and evening excursion to Melrose and West Hollywood. These vibrant Los Angeles neighborhoods are known for their eclectic and stylish shopping scenes. Melrose Avenue offers a mix of high-end boutiques, vintage shops, and trendy stores, perfect for finding unique fashion and accessories. West Hollywood complements this with upscale shopping destinations and the Sunset Strip's designer stores, catering to fashionistas and interior design enthusiasts alike.

It offers a mix of unique boutiques, vintage stores, major brands, and specialty shops. Magnolia Park is a highlight for those seeking eclectic finds, with its charming independent stores, thrift shops, and retro-inspired retailers.
There will be time to stop for lunch or coffee throughout the day along Magnolia Blvd.
After you return to your hotel, the group will get together for a fun night out at a local drag show. More details to come!

Silverlake is a haven for trendsetters with its indie boutiques, vintage stores, and lifestyle shops as well as the Silverlake Flea Market. These markets are perfect for uncovering one-of-a-kind treasures and supporting local vendors. Los Feliz is known for its mix of quirky shops, bookstores, and specialty stores catering to creative minds. Echo Park boasts a unique blend of local artisan shops, record stores, and vintage finds, making it a go-to for eclectic treasures. We’ll be checking out the Rose Bowl Flea Market in Pasadena, held on the second Sunday of every month, is a massive event featuring vintage clothing, antiques, and collectibles. The Melrose Trading Post, hosted weekly at Fairfax High School, offers a curated selection of artisan goods, vintage items, and handcrafted products in a lively atmosphere.
Return to your hotel and head out for your final LA evening in an iconic neighborhood: Venice Beach.
Venice Beach is famous for its bohemian vibe and unique shopping experiences that reflect its artistic and free-spirited atmosphere. The Venice Beach Boardwalk is lined with an array of eclectic shops selling handmade jewelry, art, and souvenirs, while Abbot Kinney Boulevard offers a more upscale experience with its trendy boutiques, designer stores, and chic home goods shops.
