      About this trip

      Virginia Military Festival

      Friday April 19-Sunday April 21, 2024

“Words cannot explain the Virginia International Tattoo other than to say it's the most amazing and inspiring gathering of military bands, drill teams, and performers from the U.S. service branches and from militaries around the world. It gave me goosebumps and brought tears to my eyes. I see why it was chosen to be the best of American Bus Association's Top 100 Events in North America!"

Peter Pantuso, President/ CEO, American Bus Association

Begin your patriotic adventure aboard the Victory Rover Cruising through the bustling Hampton Roads Harbor, one of the largest in the world. Enjoy fascinating and entertaining commentary during the two-hour excursion aboard this naval themed vessel. Take in the sights of aircraft carriers, nuclear submarines, guided cruisers and all of the other ships that form the world's most powerful armada. A boxed dinner will be served picnic style during the cruise.  After the cruise you will check in to the Hyatt House Virginia Beach Oceanfront.  The celebration continues on Saturday morning. Following breakfast at the hotel, you will head downtown for an early visit to Nauticus, a nautical museum, where you will learn about the power of the sea, experience ship handling first hand and pet a shark. Visit the museum and then enjoy a self-guided tour of the Battleship Wisconsin—the largest battleship that served in WWII, the Korean War and the Persian Gulf War. Walk the short distance for reserved seating at the Parade of Nations which features marching bands, Tattoo performers, dazzling floats and decorated NATO officials, all representing NATO nations. Walk the short distance to Town Point Park for NATO Fest, a cultural experience of food, drink and entertainment. The 28 NATO countries will showcase unique cultures in a festival-style format. You can take in the sights and sounds while enjoying lunch on your own from the many international offerings.  Depart for hotel for some down time. Prior to the evening excitement you will enjoy dinner before a fun-filled night at The Virginia International Tattoo beginning with Hullabaloo, featuring performances by a variety of musicians, dancers and drill teams. Then it’s on to the main event—the Tattoo, the largest in the United States.

After breakfast and check-out, spend the morning at the Norfolk Botanical Gardens in full bloom. Take a trackless tram to explore 155-acres of rare flowers, mature forests and one of the largest collections of azaleas, camellias, and roses on the East Coast.   Depart Norfolk with fond memories of your time in Coastal Virginia.  A stop will be made for lunch on the return.

Package includes motor coach transportation, overnight accommodations at Hyatt House Virginia Beach, two breakfasts, two dinners, guided tours, admissions, driver’s gratuity and trip leader.

A wonderful experience; much more than expected. Tour guide was excellent, timing was perfect. Just enough walking and riding and the walking was at nice pace. Beautiful trip. To make it better; Done know how this could have been handled, but the people sitting behind us were very loud and refused to stop talking. Tony did a good job in trying to quiet them down, but they started right up again. This is my 3rd trip with GSG and everything is usually organized so well, I was surprised at all the confusion and poor service at lunch. Got the feeling that they weren't expecting a large group. I was served after my companions plates were cleared. The French fries for our group were served after the sandwiches has been consumed. My coffee came just as we were ready to leave. The food was fine, but I wouldn't go there again. I hope that in the future, GSG would choose another restaurant.

We have been on numerous trips with Faith and they are always adventurous and well planned. This year started with the Kentucky Derby, Land and Cruise thru Alaska and the Mircle of Christmas in Lancaster Pa was a great way to wrap of the year. Can't wait for new adventures.
