About this trip

We will cycle through unknown trails in the middle of the world  full of history and beautiful landscapes of the Andes near Cayambe volcano. 


We begin our Bicycle adventure in the community of Guachalá where the equator line crosses and you will be able to check several times with your GPS that you are at 0'0“0” latitude. We will also visit pre-Columbian archaeological sites that were used by our ancestors as astronomical observatories and offer an incredible view of the Cayambe volcano. The bike route is approximately 23 km (may vary according to your level) we will also visit the famous handicraft market of Otavalo and other sites that will surprise you.

Duration of the trip

This will be a full day experience , but don't worry, we won't be on the bikes the whole time, we will make stops along the way to take pictures, learn something interesting or to try the food.


Start: 7h30 at your place in Quito 

End: around 18h00 back in Quito

Ride around the middle of the world in Guachalá community

The biking adventure begins with an exciting mountain bike route around the community of Guachalá, which is located at latitude 0°0"0' right on the equator. This route could change according to your physical level from 13 to 23 km so you decide how long you want to ride.

After the exciting bike ride, we stop to enjoy a delicious typical Ecuadorian lunch.
