Meet your Omani guide at your Muscat hotel and travel by comfortable, desert-ready 4x4 toward the Eastern Hajar region.

After an anticipated drive of approximately 2.5 to 3 hours, walk through the wadi’s rocky landscape and spend time beside its clear natural pools. Guests may swim in permitted areas when water and weather conditions are safe.

Pause for lunch near the wadi or along the route to the desert. Lunch is paid directly unless included in the confirmed package.

Continue into the desert as the road gives way to rolling red and golden dunes. The drive from Wadi Bani Khalid to the Bidiyah area generally takes approximately 45 to 60 minutes. Your experienced driver will adjust the off-road route and pace to the day’s conditions and the comfort of the group.

Visit a local Bedouin home or hosted setting, when confirmed, to share Omani coffee and dates and learn about traditions connected to desert life.

Travel across selected dunes and stop for photographs in the late-afternoon light. More energetic dune driving is optional and always subject to guest comfort and safety.

Leave the desert and begin the drive back to Muscat.

Walking areas around the wadi can be rocky, uneven and slippery. Secure footwear is recommended. Swimming depends on water levels, weather and local guidance. Guests should bring modest swimwear, a towel and dry clothes. Dune driving is not suitable for every guest. Anyone who is pregnant or has back, neck, heart or motion-sickness concerns should advise Saaf before booking. The desert route and activities may change because of weather, sand and road conditions or guest comfort. The Bedouin visit must be prearranged and should not be presented as a spontaneous entry into a private family home.
