Rysy Hike - The Highest Peak in Poland

Today’s adventure is the most challenging — and most rewarding — hike of the trip. We’ll take on the highest peak in the High Tatras accessible from the Slovakian side called Rysy, standing proudly at 2,500 metres. This is a big mountain day, covering 21 km over 9 to 10 hours, with a demanding ascent of 1,154 metres. The trail is steep and rocky in sections, gradually rising through forest, alpine meadows, and rugged high mountain terrain, with incredible views opening up at every turn. Reaching the summit is an unforgettable experience, with breathtaking panoramic views stretching across Slovakia and Poland. This is a tough but non-technical hike, graded 4.5 out of 5 in difficulty — perfect for fit and experienced hikers ready to challenge themselves and feel that true sense of mountain achievement.

The Greenest Lake in Tatras Hike

Today’s hike leads us to one of the most picturesque mountain lakes in the Tatra Mountains, known for its vivid green colour and dramatic rocky backdrop. The trail takes us through forested paths and alpine meadows, gradually ascending 670 metres over 15.4 km — a moderate challenge, rated 2 out of 3 in difficulty. Once we reach the lake, we’ll stop for a well-deserved lunch at a charming mountain hut nestled right by the water, offering traditional dishes and panoramic views. After soaking in the scenery, we’ll make our way back. In the evening, you’ll have the option to visit a local spa for some well-earned relaxation.

This challenging route takes us up to a panoramic mountain pass at 2,314 metres, offering unforgettable views over sharp ridges and deep valleys. Along the way, we’ll pass by no fewer than seven beautiful mountain lakes, each with its own unique colour and character, reflecting the surrounding peaks. The hike covers 16 km, with a demanding ascent of 968 metres, and is rated 4 out of 5 in difficulty. This is a true mountain adventure — a day of wild, dramatic landscapes, crystal-clear lakes, and the rewarding experience of crossing from one breathtaking valley to another.

Tatra Escapes
Most of our trips are concentrated around Tatra Mountains and surrounding national parks (Slovakia has 9 of them!). Tatra Mountains are known as the smallest alpine mountains in Europe which are situated in the north of the country, also shared with Poland. Slovakia is a perfect holiday destination for adventure seekers, outdoor enthusiasts, mountain and nature lovers. Slovakian national parks are a reflection of true paradise for hikers and walkers, and make an ideal destination for wellness retreats, too!
