6 Day Guided Walking Holiday in Slovakia in the Tatras Mountains.
The Tatra Mountains, are part of the Carpathian Mountain chain in eastern Europe. They create a natural border between Slovakia and Poland. Both Slovak and Polish sides are protected as national parkland and are popular destinations for winter and summer sports. The Tatras are home to wildlife including the Tatra chamois, marmot, lynx and bears. Slovakia has the highest mountain in the range: 2,655m Gerlach Peak.
There are numerous trails to enjoy from easy lakeside walks to more demanding peak tracks. The scenery is stunning with lush forestry covered in wild flowers and high mountains peaks stretching towards blue skies.
We will be based in the small resort town of Štrbské Pleso.
Štrbské Pleso which is a top tourist attraction for outdoor lovers in high Tatras in Slovakia. It sits deep in a valley surrounded by high peaks of the Tatras all around it.
There are many wonderful walks which start straight from this location. It sits on the side of a lake (Pleso) from which it gets its name and there are many other attractions in the area. The area is also a place for wellness and many of the hotels including the one in which we are staying have Saunas, Steam rooms, hot tubs etc. Although Štrbské Pleso may be a small town there are some lovely restaurants, bars and cafes to relax in after your days hike or walk.
There is also a local train small train station that we will use to get to another village close by for one of our walks.
