About this trip

Duration 4 hours

Wall of Tears Trail

Our bike ride will be approximately 8 miles bike ride along a sandy, gravel road paralleling the beach until we get to the wetlands with lagoons and trails leading to precious tiny beaches, bountiful birds, iguanas and beautiful vistas. Observe the oldest and largest black mangrove tree in Galapagos at the hidden estuary. Learn the history of Isabela as a penal colony at the Wall of Tears while exploring this transition zone by bicycle. En route to the Wall of Tears, our objective is to find the tortoises that are sleeping along side the road.

The kayak they use is very stable, even from modest waves hitting broadside. We saw turtles, penguins, boobies, sea lions and a beautiful landscape. After going back, we were led by our knowledgeable friendly guide snorkeling and the wildlife continued with sharks, rays and plenty of colorful fish. Great value on this trip!

Ricardo was a great guide. We were able to spot a group of penguins while kayaking as well as some other wildlife but the highlight for us was snorkeling at Concha Perla. While you do not need a guide to snorkel here I don’t think we would have seen a fraction of what we did had we not been with Ricardo, he seemed to know all the spots to find the animals. We spotted a sea lion, turtles, sharks, rays, and even an octopus!

5 stars. What a beautiful and amazing tour! Our guide took us on a wonderful and safe tour of sharks, penguins, marine iguanas, and sea lions. Our guide was a wealth of information and very friendly--he picked us up and dropped us off at our hotel which was very convenient. Our snorkeling portion in Concha Perla was a great end to our trip, we got to snorkel in a very safe area with all kinds of colorful fish, rays, and sea lions. Our guide also gave us an amazing recommendation to snorkel in a beautiful narrow channel where nobody else was snorkeling (lots of locals in this area) and was a hidden gem of beauty. I would highly recommend this tour in the Galapagos.

This was a good hike for us but not for those looking for a relaxing day hike. It was hot and requires a decent level of fitness. The guide explained a lot about the area, the lava and culture of the islands which we appreciated.
