Arrival in Marrakech Itinerary
Morning: Arrive in Marrakech
Your journey begins as you land at Marrakech Menara Airport, where the warm North African air welcomes you. After clearing customs and collecting your luggage, you'll find your pre-arranged private transfer waiting to whisk you to your accommodation.
Afternoon: Transfer to Riad & Medina Tour
Your driver will navigate through the bustling streets of Marrakech to your traditional riad - a beautiful Moroccan house with an interior garden or courtyard. These accommodations offer an authentic glimpse into Moroccan architecture and hospitality.
After settling in and refreshing yourself, a local guide will meet you for a short introductory tour of the medina (old city). This UNESCO World Heritage site is a maze of narrow, winding streets filled with:
- Colorful souks (markets) selling spices, textiles, ceramics, and artisanal crafts
- Historic landmarks like the 12th-century Koutoubia Mosque with its distinctive minaret
- Hidden derbs (alleyways) leading to unexpected treasures
- Street performers and traditional water sellers in colorful costumes
Evening: Authentic Moroccan Dinner
As evening falls, you'll experience your first authentic Moroccan dinner. This might be at your riad or at a carefully selected restaurant in the medina. The meal typically begins with a selection of Moroccan salads and bread, followed by a tagine - a slow-cooked stew named after the conical earthenware pot it's prepared in. Lamb, chicken, or vegetable tagines are seasoned with combinations of saffron, cumin, cinnamon, and preserved lemons.
For dessert, expect sweet pastries infused with honey and nuts, accompanied by refreshing mint tea poured from height in the traditional manner. The dinner setting might feature glowing lanterns, traditional Moroccan music, and perhaps even some light entertainment.
