Today as we travel through Indiana and into the countryside of Pennsylvania, we enjoy the day of travel with fun activities on board and getting to know our fellow travelers, while taking time for lunch and comfort stops. 

This evening our accommodations are at the Holiday Inn in Monroeville, Pennsylvania. 

After a short drive, we arrive in Gettysburg National Park in time for lunch on our own. We then meet our local guide for a narrated tour of this important Civil War Battlefield that resulted in more than 51,000 casualties. 

By late afternoon we arrive in Washington, D.C., where we enjoy three nights at the Holiday Inn, Arlington, Virginia. 

This morning we start our day at Arlington National Cemetery where we have a guided tram tour of the cemetery, including stops at the Kennedy gravesites and the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. Next we enjoy an included lunch at Harriet’s Family Restaurant, located in the Harrington Hotel in downtown Washington, D.C., just three blocks from the White House. 

After lunch we meet our local guide and enjoy the rest of the afternoon and evening visiting the Washington, D.C. highlights: Jefferson and Lincoln Monuments, Vietnam Wall Memorial, Iwo Jima and Korean War Memorial and more. 

This morning a scenic drive brings us to Mount Vernon in Virginia where we tour the colonial plantation estate of George and Martha Washington. Few historic homes in America are so well preserved and fully furnished with original possessions. 

We enjoy the rest of the day at the Smithsonian Institute. Here we are free to visit the Museum of Natural History, National Air & Space Museum, and the Holocaust Museum, just to name a few.  

We leave Washington, D.C. and travel thru the Allegheny Mountains of West Virginia and on to Columbus, Ohio, making lunch and comfort stops en route. Tonight we enjoy a pizza and wine party at our hotel compliments of LaVerne’s Travel Inc. 

This morning we visit the National Museum of the United States Air Force in Dayton. Known as the oldest and largest military aviation museum in the world, it features more than 300 aircraft and missiles in 17 acres of indoor exhibit space. 

Next we stop at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, home of the Indianapolis 500 that has taken place every Memorial Day since 1911. This evening our overnight stay is at the Fairfield Inn, East Peoria, Illinois. Dinner is included. 

Following breakfast, we depart East Peoria and travel to our neighboring state Iowa, stopping at the Little Brown Church in the Vale for an authentic “church basement ladies lunch”.
