Part of the wonder of Quito is just how easy it is to take day trips that will have you feeling like you’re in a completely different world. One of those day trips is to the magical little town of Baños! 

The day will begin early in the morning, as it is a 4-hour drive to Baños from Quito. But it’s a magnificent way to see the changing landscapes surrounding this diverse capital city. Along the way, we will stop to admire the views on Avenida de los Volcanes (Avenue of the Volcanoes) while we share legends and stories that make this route so special. And, if you can’t eat before we get on the road, we’ll make a stop along the way for a delicious local breakfast at one of our favorite spots.

Upon arrival in Baños, we will visit the most famous waterfall in the area, called Pailon del Diablo, or Cauldron of the Devil. There are hanging bridges that offer the best viewpoints to see the natural wonder of this place. After that, you’ll get to experience the ever-popular swing at the Tungurahua Volcano viewpoint. This is the swing you’ve probably seen in every Instagram post of Baños. And for good reason. There is no place like it! 

After exploring, if you’d like to relax, we’ll bring you to the Luna Volcan Spa as an optional extension. 

Late in the afternoon, we’ll try some artisanal candies from a local favorite vendor and start our trek back to Quito!

If this is your last day in Ecuador, we’re also happy to drop you off at the airport, and you can bring your luggage with you for the day (for an extra fee) to make life easier.

Things to Consider:

• It is a full-day trip, as the drive takes 4 hours each way from Quito. 
• If you get motion sickness, let us know in advance so we can support you and have remedies!
• If you’re traveling alone, no worries. Just let us know in advance.
• While we offer the tour daily, Monday through Friday, we only have a Spanish-speaking guide; on weekends, either an English-speaking or a Spanish-speaking guide
