Covering 37km and 1800m+ of ascent, we’ll tackle 10 incredible summits, including Pen y Fan (886m) - the highest mountain in South Wales. Expect challenging climbs, breathtaking views, and the satisfaction of completing one of Wales’ ultimate hiking challenges with an incredible crew.

We’ll have a 1 guide : 8 people ratio, with Gemma as your lead guide, joined by two experienced members of her mountain guide team. Alongside them, Beth and Jon from Waypoint Crew will be your hosts, keeping the crew motivated, the energy high and the adventure running smoothly.

Join Waypoint Crew for a challenging weekend in the mountains as we take on 10 peaks, explore the best of the national park and share the experience with a great crew of like-minded legends.
Friday 25th September, 2026
Meet: We'll be staying at Coed Owen Bunkhouse, a cosy Welsh hill farm nestled in the heart of the Brecon Beacons National Park - the perfect base before two unforgettable days in the mountains. The bunkhouse is around 3.5 hours' drive from central London. If you're travelling by train, it's just a 12-minute taxi from Merthyr Tydfil station or around 55 minutes from Newport station. You can organise lift shares and taxi groups in the WhatsApp chat, making it easy to travel together.
Arrival: Arrive from 4pm onwards to settle in, meet the crew, and get ready for the adventure ahead. Beth will be there to welcome you, but don’t worry if you need to arrive later after work. We’ll hold a welcome briefing at around 9pm to run through the challenge, cover any important details, and answer any final questions before we set off. Please bring dinner with you or grab something on the way - teas and coffees will be ready when you arrive.
Saturday 26th September, 2026
23km | 900m ascent | 9–10 hours
Early Breakfast (06:00): An early start as we fuel up for the first day of the challenge with breakfast at the bunkhouse - porridge, yoghurt, fruit, toast, teas and coffees. We’ll also prepare our packed lunches together before heading out.
Challenge Briefing (07:00): We’ll run through the plan for the day, complete final kit checks and cover the safety briefing before setting off.
Coach Transfer (07:20): We’ll hop on the coach to Penywyllt Car Park, enjoying a 35-minute journey through the dramatic mountain passes of the Brecon Beacons.
Challenge Begins (08:00): We’ll hit the trails for stage one of the challenge, taking on some of the southern peaks and ridgelines of the Brecon Beacons. Expect steady climbs, incredible views and a proper mountain day with the crew. Peaks include Fan Gyhirych (725m), Fan Nedd (664m), Fan Llia (632m), Fan y Dringarth (617m) and Fan Frynach (629m), with regular breaks to refuel and enjoy the scenery.
Complete Stage 1 (17:00): After around 9-10 hours on the trail (depending on pace and conditions), we’ll descend from our final peak and finish at Storey Arms Outdoor Centre before heading back to Coed Owen Bunkhouse by coach.
Showers & Chill Time: Back at the bunkhouse, it’s time to shower, get changed and relax after a big day in the mountains
Pizzas & Drinks: We’ll regroup for a well-earned evening of wood-fired pizzas and downtime. We’ll share stories from the day, play games, look back on the highlights and recharge before the final stage of the challenge.
Optional Drinks at Nant Ddu Lodge: If we fancy a change of scenery, Nant Ddu Lodge is just across the road for an optional evening drink. With another big day ahead, we’ll keep it sensible!
Sunday 27th September, 2026
14km | 850m | 8 Hours
Early Breakfast (06:00): It’s time for the final push! We’ll fuel up with a hearty breakfast of bacon and sausage baps, fruit, toast, teas and coffees before heading out for our final day in the mountains. We’ll prepare our packed lunches together and make sure everyone is ready to go. Please remember to check out of the bunkhouse this morning - bags can be left safely at Coed Owen while we complete the challenge, or you can leave on the coach.
Challenge Briefing (07:00): Before setting off, we’ll run through the route, complete final kit checks and cover the safety briefing for the day ahead.
Coach Transfer (07:20): We’ll jump on the coach back to Storey Arms Outdoor Centre, where we finished yesterday, ready to continue our journey across the Brecon Beacons.
Final Peaks & The Big Finish (08:00): The final stage takes us across some of the most iconic peaks in Bannau Brycheiniog National Park, including the highest mountain in South Wales - Pen y Fan (886m). Covering 14km of dramatic mountain terrain, we’ll tackle challenging climbs, exposed ridgelines and some of the best views Wales has to offer. Today’s peaks include Corn Du (873m), Pen y Fan (886m), Cribyn (795m), Fan y Big (717m) and Bwlch y Ddwyallt (754m), with plenty of opportunities to stop, refuel and take in the incredible surroundings.
Complete the 10 Peak Challenge (16:00): After around 8 hours hiking (depending on pace and conditions), we’ll descend from our final peak and finish at Torpantau Horseshoe Car Park - where the challenge officially comes to an end. Take a moment to celebrate with the crew and earn your medal - you’ve just completed one of Wales’ most iconic mountain challenges!
Departure (17:00): After the challenge, we'll head back to Coed Owen to collect our cars and bags before making our way home. If you're travelling by train, you can return via either Merthyr Tydfil or Newport station. For those driving, you can coordinate lift shares back to London where possible. If you're not in a rush, you're more than welcome to join us for a well-earned drink or bite to eat at a local pub before heading home - the perfect way to celebrate an epic weekend in the mountains with the crew.
The Bunkhouse: We'll be staying at Coed Owen Bunkhouse situated on an idyllic Welsh hill farm in the heart of the Brecon Beacons National Park
Shared Rooms: The bunkhouse comfortably sleeps 26 people in 5 bedrooms.
Full Bedding Provided: Full bedding is provided, so don't worry about bringing anything with you.
Kitchen: The self-catering kitchen is fully equipped with everything you should need for teas, coffees and preparing food.
Meals: We'll provide two breakfasts, ingredients to make two packed lunches, and a hearty Saturday evening dinner to keep you fuelled throughout the challenge. Just bring along any hiking snacks, drinks, and any additional food you'd like. See more info below.

Getting there by train: The nearest train station is Merthyr Tydfil in Wales. From there, you can get a taxi to Coed Owen Bunkhouse, which is a 15-minute drive away. Many people will be coming by train, so you can coordinate taxi shares in the group chat.
Getting there by car: If you choose to drive, feel free to drop a message in the WhatsApp trip group chat to arrange lift shares.

This challenge is perfect for intermediate hikers looking to take on their next big adventure. Whether you've completed a Waypoint Crew challenge before or you're ready to step up from the Yorkshire Three Peaks, this is an unforgettable weekend in the mountains.
Ideal for people in their 20s–40s from London who want to challenge themselves, meet like-minded adventurers, and experience the best of the Brecon Beacons.
You should:
Be comfortable hiking for 8–10 hours a day.
Have a good level of fitness and feel confident on steep ascents and descents.
Be ready to hike 37km over two days through mountain terrain.
Enjoy pushing yourself, embracing new challenges, and being part of a supportive group.
Walking Boots: Waterproof, supportive, and well broken-in. Boots are strongly recommended over trainers for muddy, uneven mountain terrain.
20L Rucksack: Large enough to carry your hiking essentials each day. Keep it light - you’ll be carrying it for two full days, so only bring what you need.
Waterproof Jacket & Trousers: Essential, whatever the forecast. Mountain weather can change quickly.
Hiking Clothes / Activewear: Wear breathable, quick-drying layers (avoid cotton and denim).
Warm Layers: Fleece or mid-layer, insulated jacket, hat, gloves, and buff. Conditions can feel much colder on exposed peaks.
Water Bottles: Carry at least 2 litres each day.
Packed Lunch & Snacks: You’ll be making your packed lunches each morning using the supplied food. Bring plenty of high-energy snacks such as flapjacks, nuts, chocolate, or sweets.
Head Torch: Recommended in case of delays or low light conditions.
Power Bank: Useful for keeping your phone charged throughout the day.
Waterproof Rucksack Cover / Dry Bags: To protect your kit and electronics from rain.
Hiking Poles (optional): Helpful for steep descents and reducing impact on tired legs.
Sun Protection: Sunglasses, sunscreen, and a cap (weather dependent).
Personal Medication & Blister Kit: Including any medication you need, blister plasters, and basic first aid supplies.
Toilet Paper & Personal Hygiene Items: Please bring zip-lock bags to pack out any used items and follow Leave No Trace principles.
Camera / GoPro (optional): For capturing the adventure!
Comfortable Clothes / Pyjamas: For relaxing after the hike. Feel free to bring something casual for a drink at the pub nearby.
Toiletries – Toothbrush, toothpaste, shower essentials. Towels are provided.
Flip Flops / Sliders: Great for relaxing after a long day in walking boots.

Earplugs / Eye Mask (optional) – Shared rooms can be noisy!

Small Overnight Bag: If you don’t want to use your hiking rucksack for your bunkhouse belongings.
