Join Blue Planet for a long weekend getaway on Ambergris Caye in Belize. After diving the beautiful reefs of the Hol Chan Marine Reserve, relax with your toes in the sand in one of San Pedro's seafood restaurants or beach bars. If you want a quick seaside vacation just a bit off the beaten path but not too far, with great diving, excellent snorkeling, warm water and gorgeous white sand beaches, this is the trip for you! 

AMBERGRIS CAYE

A 20 minute plane ride or 1.5-hour ferry south of the Belize International airport, San Pedro is the perfect beach getaway. The once small fishing village has managed to maintain its local culture and charm despite its growing popularity. The town is a picture postcard setting beside the clear turquoise sea. Coconut palms sway and rustle in the gentle cooling trade winds. Low rise hotels, guest houses and boutique style resorts & condos, from modest to magnificent, are nestled along the coast and throughout the town. Golf carts and bicycles are the principal mode of transportation, although we can walk pretty much any where you'd like to go.

THE DIVING

One of San Pedro's most prized attractions is the Belize Barrier Reef, the second largest in the world and is home to a diverse array of marine life. Diving is suitable for beginners and experienced divers. Visibility averages 80 feet and the water temperature rarely dips below 77º F. Air temperatures remain relatively constant around the 80º F mark.

The Belize Barrier Reef is home to thousands of species of animals including 65 species of corals, 500 species of fish, whale sharks, dolphins, crabs, seahorses, starfish, manatees, American crocodiles plus many bird and turtle species. Night dives are particularly spectacular; as well as the odd octopus, honeycomb moray eels are very common, as are lobsters, shrimp and crabs. Plus look forward to countless types of hard and soft corals, nudibranchs and mollusks.

We’ll be diving with our friends at Ambergris Divers, the onsite PADI dive center focused on diver safety, personalized service and fun! Our plan is to do 2 days of 2-tank boat dives plus a night dive. And for the more adventurous, we can add an all day, 3-tank dive to the famous Blue Hole and outer reefs!

SUNBREEZE HOTEL

The SunBreeze Hotel is located right on the beach in San Pedro. Enjoy breakfast, lunch, dinner and drinks in the spacious hotel courtyard overlooking the ocean. It’s also centrally located and walking distance to restaurants and the center of town. All rooms have wireless internet, air conditioning, private bathrooms, etc.

TRAVEL

Plan to arrive in Belize City (BZE) on Saturday, January 15th. We’ll plan to overnight at a hotel there and then fly to San Pedro early Sunday morning so we can get 2 dives in that afternoon. We'll return to Belize City/US on Thursday, January 20th. Or if you’d like to stay longer, let us know and we can help extend your stay!

PLEASE NOTE: We recommend arriving in Belize on Saturday, January 15 so we can fly together as a group to San Pedro early Sunday morning. However accommodations for that first night are NOT included in the package. You will need to book your own room in Belize City for Saturday, January 15th. We recommend the Best Western Plus Belize Biltmore Plaza.

Upon cancellation of a reservation for any reason, the refund of the deposit and payments made or due will be contingent upon Blue Planet reselling the participant's reservation. Any refund may also be subject to a $250 cancellation fee and payment of any non-refundable fees imposed by the tour company, dive operator or any other contractor associated with the trip. 

Dive accident insurance is required for all divers on this trip. We strongly recommend travel insurance to protect your vacation investment. Contact us if you need more information. 

Arrive any time on Saturday and transfer to the hotel of your choosing. (We recommend the Best Western Plus Belize Biltmore Plaza. Relax and get into vacation mode! Hang out in the pool, explore the area and meet the group for dinner that night.

We'll fly to San Pedro and Ambergris Caye early that morning. Once we arrive we can head over to Ambergris Divers, the onsite PADI dive center, for an optional 2-tank afternoon dive.

We'll do two dives Monday morning. Then you have the rest of the afternoon free to snorkel, swim, hang out on the beach, etc. We can look into optional afternoon dives too!

We'll do two morning dives with Ambergris Divers, then relax Tuesday afternoon. Plan on doing the night dive that evening!

Head out for another 2-tank boat dive OR dive the world-famous Blue Hole! Sign up for this optional day of diving the iconic site plus surrounding reefs. ($315 includes breakfast, lunch, water, fruit, sodas; does not include Blue Hole Park fee)

The last day of our trip. Depart San Pedro to catch your international flight in Belize City. Want to stay longer? We can help with arrangements!
