      About this trip

Escape the cold and join Blue Planet for a long weekend of diving...no passport needed! Culebra has remained a hidden gem for diving in the Caribbean. This tiny, laid-back island boasts beautiful reefs and tons of marine life accessible to divers of all experience levels. And with one of the top 5 beaches in the world, you can truly get away from it all.

      Culebra

Culebra is an enchanting Spanish Virgin Island located approximately 17 miles east of mainland Puerto Rico and 12 miles west of St. Thomas. Home to approximately 3,000 local residents, Culebra boasts an intricate shoreline with cliffs, sandy coral shores and mangroves; with numerous cays surrounding it, and the Luis Peña Channel Natural Reserve.

When you step foot in Culebra, you’ll be transported to a place that seems as if time stood still. The pace is slower, the vibe relaxed. You’ll want to unplug, surrender to the simplicity and magic of true island life. This small island has bragging rights to Flamenco Beach, one of the most glorified beaches in the world, constantly ranked as one of the best beaches on the planet.

While other islands in the Caribbean brag about hotel chains and touristy activities, Culebra and it’s residents prefer to keep the island’s natural treasures as the main attractions. Most of Culebra is a natural refuge, keeping it safe from overdevelopment, allowing visitors and residents to enjoy a pristine tropical paradise. Culebra is also home to some of the healthiest coral reefs in the Caribbean.

      The Diving

Minimum dive certification/experience:  Perfect for beginners. A great spot to complete your Open Water Diver certification, Advanced Open Water Diver and more.

The island of Culebra is semi-arid with no fresh water streams and therefore, no surface run off. Because of this, the ocean visibility is among the clearest in the world, making for some of the best snorkeling and SCUBA diving. There are well over 50 dive sites only a half hour from the dock, suitable for brand new divers or the most experienced pro. And so much to see! From schools of colorful fish to funky invertebrates, beautiful hard corals to the occasional pelagic visitor, no dive is a disappointment.

      Hillbay View Villas

Relax in a fully equipped villa with an amazing view of Culebra's bay. Each studio has a balcony to enjoy the view and relax, plus a kitchenette, air-conditioning, TV, WIFI and all bathroom accessories. We're organizing transportation to get around the island.

      Travel

You can fly to Culebra (CPX) on December 7th. When leaving the island, choose any flight that leaves later in the day on the 11th. Alternatively, you can fly into San Juan (SJU) and we can charter a small plane from SJU to Culebra or take the ferry over. Please contact the shop before booking your flights.

      Cancellation Policy

Upon cancellation of a reservation for any reason, the refund of the deposit and payments made or due will be contingent upon Blue Planet reselling the participant's reservation. Any refund may also be subject to a $100 cancellation fee and payment of any non-refundable fees imposed by the tour company, dive operator or any other contractor associated with the trip.

Another great trip with Blue Planet. Everything was seamlessly planned ahead of time, from setting up accommodations to arranging things with the dive shop (shout out to Eco Dive!) to communication about all the details. Anthony was a fantastic trip leader. He thought of everything (finding places for the group to meet for meals, making reservations, arranging taxis, talking to the dive shop about schedules etc. He took care of all the small bumps associated with travel and just made everything smooth and comfortable. Plus, he’s just fun :) The diving in Grenada was beautiful and the island was lovely and welcoming. Five stars for sure! Can’t wait for my next trip.

The weather in Cozumel was lovely. The scuba instructor, Andrea Williams, was exceptional. The resort was tailored more to local families and tourists who appreciate that level of comfort.

Heather & Jonas were excellent trip leaders making sure everyone was well taken care of. The Galapagos Aggressor had a super crew and the diving was challenging and stunning! We saw hammerheads, penguins, seals, sea lions & dolphins! I really appreciated the personal touches like our matching jackets and a cake for my birthday. I would highly recommend this trip.
