About this trip

Escape the winter cold and join Blue Planet for an extra-long holiday weekend of diving in Grand Cayman! One of the most popular dive destinations in the Caribbean, Grand Cayman offers gorgeous reefs, warm water, amazing viz and a guaranteed good time. Don’t miss this trip!

GRAND CAYMAN

Rising from the ocean bed in the clear waters of the northern Caribbean Sea lies a massive underwater mountain range known as the Cayman Ridge. Three of its spectacular peaks break the surface to form the islands of Grand Cayman, Cayman Brac and Little Cayman. The islands are surrounded by fringing reefs with staghorn coral, canyons, pinnacles, archways and of course, the magnificent walls that provide the necessary protection for all varieties of marine life while still enabling the larger pelagic species to come within reach of the diver.

The largest and most developed of the three Cayman Islands, Grand Cayman is the home of George Town, the capital city, which boasts some of the finest cuisine and shopping in the Caribbean. Whether you want to explore a sunken wreck, dance the night away, get some sun on Seven Mile Beach, or simply go sightseeing, Grand Cayman is the place to start.

THE DIVING

Minimum dive certification/experience:  Perfect for beginners. A great spot to complete your Open Water Diver certification, Advanced Open Water Diver and more.

The Cayman Islands' 365 dive sites are sure to leave even the most seasoned divers awestruck; with deep dramatic walls adorned with sponges and corals, shallow reefs of fish and small invertebrates, and an assortment of famous wrecks, all in perfect 80 degree Farenheit water. Visibility often exceeds 100 feet revealing some of the world’s most diverse aquatic life. Grand Cayman is home to the worlds’s best 12 foot dive, the legendary Stingray City and the USS Kittiwake.

SUNSET HOUSE

Sunset House offers many amenities for the diving and snorkeling enthusiast. With a variety of rooms, a quiet cruise-ship-free location on a rocky shoreline renowned for its shore diving, and only a 15-minute walk from downtown, the highly-recommended Sunset House is sure to please even the most avid diver. While they do not have a beach, they do have a pool with a waterfall, whirlpool and sea pool with direct ladder access to the Caribbean. The on-site SeaHarvest Restaurant and My Bar are fabulous and frequented by locals, so you know they’re good. And you can’t miss sunset at My Bar with their amazing Mudslides!

The resort boasts five custom dive boats with access to any site on the island and the best shore diving on the island, which includes Amphitrite (the Island’s only 9 foot tall mermaid), the wreck of the David Nicholson, access to the Cayman wall, and a variety of sites unequaled anywhere else on Grand Cayman. Plus there’s a full service dive shop on site, as well as Cathy Church’s Underwater Photo Centre.

Had a great time with the crew from Blue Planet. Marin is the best! While the Hilton hotel (Resort, what a crock)was in a great location, the price they charged for breakfast is outrageous! 23 bucks what a rip off! Really ticked me off!!! Majority of the dive shop personal were very helpful, professional. Capt Scott a true professional in his briefings and handling the boat! Didn’t like how one dive guide was inattentive and basically lost the group, claiming we were “ ahead of her” . Overall Marin and the rest of the folks from Blue Planet made me feel right at home,
This was our first trip with Blue Planet, and we made a decision to join them any time we plan a dive trip. Everything was planned the best possible way and everyone was included the whole time. Both Josh and Michael are just amazing!!! We had the best dive experience !!! Thank you!
Another amazing trip with Blue Planet! Thanks so much to Marin for being an awesome trip leader. Can’t wait to go on our next adventure with Blue Planet!
Comfortable accommodations. Responsive staff and an excellent scuba operation.
My second trip with Blue Planet and I must say it was incredible. I got to fit in all the diving I wanted to do, completed 4 classes, explored the island, and made so many new friends! I have so much fun with the Blue planet crew and I cant wait to experience my next adventure with them again!
