Traditional Greek Village Festival: Panygiria

Village festivals are a fundamental part of the Icarian culture. It is a big social event, people get together, dancing hand in hand, sharing food and wine and only leaving after the crack of dawn (or even later). Ikariotikos (their traditional dance) is danced and played at all the celebrations and people of all ages gather around in a big circle, holding each other’s hands. It’s truly magical to watch it happen and be a part of their circle.

Monastery of Theoktisti

The monastery features a main church with its impressive 17th Century frescoes and a separate and hidden 15th Century Pirate Era chapel built under a huge boulder. Explore the old buildings and monks' cells and enjoy the monastery's courtyard areas and natural setting with its breathtaking views.

Visit an organic farm and receive a cooking lesson + lunch

Learn about and experience healthy Icarian food, cooking and farming during your stay in Ikaria and see why Ikaria has been designated as a BlueZone for its extraordinarily long-lived and healthy people.
