Gorée is located about 1.2 miles from the main harbor of Dakar. It is a tiny car-free island off the coast of Senegal, opposite Dakar. From the 15th to the 19th century, it was the largest slave-trading centre on the African coast. It is classified as a Unesco world heritage. 

The Lompoul desert is a small desert located 145 km south of Saint-Louis, Senegal. It is characterized by orange sand dunes forming a landscape that is more akin to those of the Sahara and Mauritania than those of the surrounding area of Senegal, and is a popular tourist attraction of Senegal.

Founded as a French colonial settlement in the 17th century, Saint-Louis was urbanised in the mid-19th century. It was the capital of Senegal from 1872 to 1957 and played an important cultural and economic role in the whole of West Africa. The location of the town on an island at the mouth of the Senegal River, its regular town plan, the system of quays, and the characteristic colonial architecture give Saint-Louis its distinctive appearance and identity.

The Djoudj National Bird Sanctuary lies on the southeast bank of the Senegal River, and provides a range of wetland habitats which are home to almost 400 species of migratory and resident birds and other wildlife. Travel from Saint-Louis, then explore the park in a small wooden boat, and local guide who will share insight into the many species which reside in the park, or fly south across the Sahara from Europe every winter.

Saly is a beach resort area in the Petite Côte region of Senegal. A former Portuguese trading post, Saly Portudal village features restaurants and bars. West along the coast, Saly Nord has a palm-lined beach, the Golf de Saly golf course and a craft market.
