About this trip

Join us as we hike the 3 Southern Presidential mountains of the White Mountains. We will hit three 4K ft peaks, practice yoga each day, and stay in one of AMC's 100 year old full service huts!

Nestled in a col between two 4,000-foot peaks, Mizpah Spring Hut is just a short distance from the fabled Crawford Path. Visit this lovely spot in the boreal forest, and explore the southern peaks of the Presidential Range. An easy 2.6 miles from the trailhead, Mizpah Spring Hut welcomes all in the summer and fall.

No tent or camping equipment necessary. The huts offer hikers of all levels a fantastic entry point into backcountry travel. No camping experience required! Bunk bed accommodations allow you to leave your bulky sleeping bag at home. Enjoy in-season home-cooked breakfast and dinner, cold running water and composting or waterless toilets.

THREE PEAKS TWO DAYS:

We will be hiking an out and back loop. The first day we will summit one peak and stay overnight in Mizpah Spring Hut. The next day we will wake up eat breakfast and summit the remaining two peaks as we complete the loop that will bring us back to our accent down to the parking lot.

Day 1 Mount Jackson Elevation: 4,052 feet.

( This peak is optional)

Day 2 Mount Pierce Elevation: 4,311 feet

Day 2 Mount Eisenhower Elevation: 4,780 feet

YOGA DETAILS:
While yoga is often considered a physical practice of creating shapes with our bodies that stretch our muscles and work with our breath, we want to encourage you to consider the full picture of what yoga truly is. Yoga is a discipline to improve or develop one's inherent power in a balanced manner. It offers the means to attain complete self-realization. In this framework our entire weekend is infact a practice of yoga. From the moment we meet one another and set intentions, to the the first steps on the summit of a mountain we are practicing yoga.

This means, that while we will offer the asana (the physical practice of yoga) throughout the weekend, please remember that everything is subject to weather and trail conditions.  While our intention is to lead your through two full vinyasa style practices, based on the variability of the outdoors our yoga class could range from a mat practice on the ground, to a standing practice with our boots on under the canopy of our cabin, to a stretch session in our bunk beds followed by a deep meditation. Most of all every physical yoga session will be all levels so we invite all people to participate

We appreciate your willingness to leave all expectations at the door and give into the flow of our weekend adventure!

HIKING DETAILS:
This is moderately strenuous retreat that will test your limits while bringing you back in touch with nature. Please be prepared to hike on steep and rocky terrain while carrying a bag with snacks and layers that can weigh between 10-20 pounds. While we encourage hiking novices to sign up, we recommend that you be in good athletic shape and capable of continuous activity for at least four hours at a time. The yoga will be gentle and empowering. No need to hike a yoga mat into the mountains, but I do recommend bringing a towel. Absolutely incredible experience! Laura and Joel are great teachers and the whole trip was so much fun. I definitely recommend taking any trip with them, you are guaranteed a great time and a meaningful experience.
We had a great time. The Yoga classes were fantastic! Helpful for before and after skiing. The hot tub was great, as well as the breakfast. I'm definitely thinking about going on this trip again next year.

They were awesome. Amazing accommodations. Very thoughtful and responsive organizers. I don’t think the breakfast service the hotel service uses is good. Better off getting coffee and bagels elsewhere. Would do again.
Great weekend getaway packed with yoga, tasty cider, and a fun day on the mountain. I only wish the trip had been longer! Partnering relaxing yoga sessions, spa treatment and hot tub action, and a full day of snowboarding is a match made in heaven. Can't wait to invite more friends to join on this trip again next year.

I loved the Backcountry Yoga 20 hr Outdoor Yoga Guide training so much. It was so good for my soul. Laura is a natural teacher who exudes so much wisdom from her personal experience and studies of yoga, nature, and science. I found this training to be a perfect balance of education, safety, creativity, nature, and spiritual teachings. It was such a gift to spend the weekend with Laura and the other yoga teachers in the group. I would highly recommend that anyone interested in bringing a group into nature for a yoga class or yoga hike attend this training,.
