About your trip

Join Gunnar Oberhosel, an experienced underwater photographer and freediving guide, for a unique freediving adventure in Cape Town's legendary kelp forest. This small-group experience will let you explore the underwater world. Come and discover the beauty of South Africa's Great African Seaforest!

In the early morning, we will meet at the dive centre in Simon's Town to fit your gear. From here, we will drive a short distance to the selected dive site of the day and begin our 1-hour snorkelling session.

We will teach you the basics of freediving to get the most out of your experience. Taking slow and calm breaths in between your dives is a great way to calm your body, which allows you to dive even deeper.

Once you are comfortable in the kelp forest, we will look for octopuses hiding in dens and shy sharks cruising along the seafloor. Be prepared to discover even the tiniest wonders in the kelp forest!

All participants must complete a health questionnaire and have previous snorkelling experience. Additionally, they must be able to swim 200m. A refund will be issued in the event of unfavourable diving conditions or unavailability.

About your organizer

I moved to South Africa from Germany seven years ago. I fell in love with Cape Town's kelp forest and to this day, I free dive every day. The ocean is my playground and the place where I find stillness in our world. I enjoy helping people to reconnect with nature through free diving and guided experiences.
