What You’ll Experience

Gain invaluable, real-world experience working closely with these iconic cats, alongside other fascinating species such as caracals. Learn the essentials of husbandry, nutrition, and medical care.

You may participate in hands-on veterinary work with cheetahs, including medical checks and rounds, blood draws, body condition scoring, application of frontline treatments, vaccinating, medical training, administration of treatments, and performing diagnostics as necessary. These activities may form part of the annual work-ups for preventative medicine.

In addition, you may be involved in in-clinic work such as sample handling, preparation, storage, and data entry into a cloud-based medical records system, supporting the smooth operation of veterinary care.

Keeper and husbandry duties may include meal preparation and feeding, fecal collection, enclosure cleaning and maintenance, and occasionally cub care. These tasks are essential to maintaining the animals’ health and wellbeing.

Participants should also be comfortable with carcass handling and organ checks, as they may spend time in the butchery preparing meat for feeding.

Daily Care & Training

Become a vital part of the daily care team by preparing meals, monitoring health, and supporting the physical and mental wellbeing of these incredible animals. Dive deep into cheetah-specific training, including voluntary veterinary procedures, enrichment activities, and cub development and socialization.

Cultural Connection

Expand your horizons with a vibrant cultural day out, where you’ll connect with local communities and gain insight into the broader conservation impact.
