About this trip

Love Autumn weather and being outdoors? Love practicing yoga? Love hiking? We have the perfect mixture! Picture beautiful mountains and trees colored in warm fall leaves, where all you hear is wildlife, waterfalls, rivers, and the crackling of a campfire. Take a deep inhale, bring in fresh clean mountain air. Exhale, settling in to the peaceful tranquility of the Wilderness Wellness Yoga Retreat! 


Escape for a 3 day/2 night autumn yoga retreat at the Mohican Outdoor Center of the Appalachian Mountain Club.  Here you will enjoy the quiet wilderness of beautiful Delaware Water Gap Region in North Jersey. This active retreat is full of adventure, especially for those who enjoy the outdoors. We will practice yoga and meditation at the Mohican's Boathouse overlooking Catfish Lake. Yoga and meditation is all levels, geared towards self-reflection, letting go, and restoring! 


Saturday we will start our adventure with a 5 mile hike up to Catfish Fire Tower.  The summit offers a 365 degree view of NJ and PA. Following our hike, enjoy Catfish Pond by kayak or resting on the beach.  Finish the day with an evening yoga practice. Day two will start with an energizing morning yoga practice and intention setting meditation, preparing to embark on an 8 mile hike. Our hike along Buttermilk Falls trail will offer site of New Jersey's tallest waterfall along side of the magical autumn foliage along portions of the Appalachian Trail.   To end the day, relax by the fire or enjoy some time to yourself. The third and final day begin with sunrise meditation, yoga and a parting group activity. Participants encouraged to stay, play, and explore on your own at the Mohican.  Or participants may depart after the group activities.


Throughout our stay we will nourish our bodies with clean, healthy nutritious food, accommodating to all dietary restrictions.  Along with you food provided, you are encouraged to bring your own healthy snacks.  


Join us for a weekend away from stress and your daily schedule. Give yourself permission to slow down, enjoy stillness and reflect.  Come un-plug to re-charge! 

Fine Print

Payment:

All trips must be booked by 8/1/18. 

Cancellations can be honored up to 30 days prior to the trip minus a $160 non-refundable fee. 


Meals:

Included are dinner 10/6, all meals 10/7, and breakfast 10/8. 

Attendees will need to provide themselves a pack-able lunch for arrival day to consume on our hike. 

Please advise when booking if there are specific dietary restrictions you need honored.


Prior Experience:

This is an active retreat! Prior hiking and kayaking experience recommended.  We will be hiking both an 8 and 5 mile trail. Please pack appropriate footwear and attire to allow for the best experience. Yoga classes will be all-levels. 


Important Times:

Our start time is 10:00 am at The Mohican Outdoor Center, and attendees are expected to arrive on time so that we may start our excursion all together. 

Check out is 11:00am on Monday 10/08/18 (This is Columbus Day). At this time you must have all belongings out of the cabin but you are more than welcome to stay and enjoy the amenities at camp for the rest of the day.

    2 Hikes! Both on parts of the Appalachian Trail. One to Cafish Fire Tower. Another, by way of beautifull, Buttermilk Falls!
  • Yoga
    A total of 4 Yoga Classes: 3 Daily Yoga classes located in the Boathouse overlooking Catfish Pond, as well as a Yoga Nidra in the cabin.
  • Meditation
    3 Daily Guided Meditations
  • Kayak/Canoe
    Paddling on Catfish Pond.
  • Nutritious Meals
    2 sit down Dinners, 2 Breakfasts and 1 brown bag lunch for the hike.
  • Lodging
    2 nights stay in the "Trails End Lodge". The cabin has running water, sink, and kitchen, 4 bunk rooms with two sets of bunk beds in each room. Bathrooms are located about 50 yards away.
  • Bonfires
    Relaxing campfires at the end of each night, with smores of course!

    Please bring bed linens for XL twin or a sleeping bag. Pillows and pillow cases supplied.
  • Lunch for Kayak trip
    Please bring a packed lunch for arrival day to consume during our hike. Also any snacks you'd like to enjoy throughout your stay.

Yoga at the Boathouse
Daily Yoga and Meditation

We will guide you through 4 all-levels yoga classes and meditations. Day 1 will include an evening yoga to conclude the day. Day 2 will consist of early morning yoga and meditation to get our day started and a yoga nidra to relax and unwind at the end of our most active day. The final morning yoga on our departure day will invite us to leave with our peaceful mindsets.

Wilderness Wellness Retreats combines yoga, hiking, and outdoor adventure. In addition, Lisa has been leading guided hikes for over six years with a certification in Wilderness First-Aid and Life guarding. Reviews

Hiking and practicing yoga in a beautiful fall setting in VT, makes the lungs expand, the muscles relax, and the mind open. Lisa and Karen ran a wonderful weekend keeping goals of each participant in mind, challenging us to push pass personal barriers. This Wonderful Place in VT was a great locale for all of this! Chef Julia was skilled at hosting and the food was TO DIE FOR! Great weekend trip!

This was truly a wonderful experience at This Wonderful Place retreat. Thank you to everyone who made the experience great. Thank you to Julia for cooking us amazing, delicious and healthy food every day that accomodated everyone's needs.
