About your trip

Join us for a weekend of hiking in some of Victoria's most iconic landscape, the stunning coastline of Wilsons Promontory. Watch sunrise and sunset over mountains and the beach. Feel the squeak between your toes on Squeaky Beach. And if you are one of the few hardy souls to brave the chilly waters of Bass Strait, theres always a few of us keen to "feel alive"!!! There will be a variety of walks to suit all abilities.  And then relax before and after in the comfort of our group lodge, warming up with great company. This is an adventure, with amazing, supportive, body positive women, free from judgement, diet talk, or any expectation of fitness.

Theres a mix of Slow & Steady and More Challenging hikes.  So you can pick and mix the ones you want.  Plus some time to relax in the lodge, or stroll on the beach.

Accommodation is in a comfy lodge, in twin  share rooms - yep there's some bunk beds, but we never use the top bunks!  Theres also the option to camp nearby, if you prefer a bit more privacy, the bonus here is that you still get to use all the lodge facilities (including the heating!), and hang out in the lodge for meals and hot showers!

The Plan:

Friday 25th of October:  Meet at the lodge 3pm for an arvo walk.  After our hike we will settle in and unpack (or setup your tent if you pick that option).  Dinner will be around 6pm in the lodge, a Mexican Feast, then we will head down to the beach to settle in and watch sunset.

Saturday 26th of October:  Early start this morning to take in sunrise for those who are keen.  Back to the lodge for a hearty breaky, and to get our gear (and lunch) ready for our hike today.  You will get to choose from a couple of options, depending on the group, there may be Mt Bishop, or Telegraph Saddle/Little Oberon Bay (More Challenging), or one of the slow and steady walks, either Norman Beach/Norman Bay, or Pillar Point.  There's so much we can choose from!  We will finish up todays hike early/mid arvo, and the rest of the day is yours to relax in the lodge, do your own exploring, or even head out on the cruise out to Skull Rock (at your own cost).   Tonight we are back to the lodge for a BBQ dinner, burgers, snags, delicious salads, and did someone say choc ripple cake?  And weather depending, we will head out for another sunset over tidal river, is there such a thing as too many sunsets?

Sunday 29th of October:  Its a relaxed start this morning, no sunrise alarms, unless of course you want to!  We need to be out of the lodge at 10am, so pack up your gear, and join us for an EYCZ institution of "everything for sunday breaky", where all our leftovers become breaky food.  Snag sandwiches with potato salad?  Breaky chilli and cheese wraps?  Done!  Breaky today is limited only by your imagination!  Todays walk will be a stop on the road out of Tidal River, possibly Tongue Point/Darby River, or the Nature Walk filled with animals, the walk will be dependent on the group

WHAT IS ESCAPING YOUR COMFORT ZONE BODY POSITIVE ADVENTURES?

This is a body positive, slow paced trip, hosted by leaders Melissa and Richelle at Escaping Your Comfort Zone.

Escaping Your Comfort Zone is Body Positive Adventures for women and non-binary crew. The outdoors don't care about your size, your speed or your fitness, and neither do we! 100% body positive, no focus on weightloss. Just having fun in the outdoors, cause we can! As always, we walk at the pace of the slowest person, and no one is left behind.

Location

We are staying at the George Robinson Lodge, at Tidal River in Wilsons Promontory.

Tidal River has a basic general store for anything you forget, plus snacks and coffee.  There is no fuel at Tidal River, the last fuel is at Yanakie (40kms from Tidal River) and closes at 7pm.

If you are coming to the walk on Friday afternoon, be there ready to walk at 3pm.   Meet at the lodge.  https://maps.app.goo.gl/Z4dDYzF7n8vpE5aPA

If you prefer to arrive later, you can arrive at the John Gregory Lodge from 4.30pm onwards.  Here's the google maps link to the lodge:.  https://maps.app.goo.gl/Z4dDYzF7n8vpE5aPA

Please let us know if you plan to arrive after 6pm on Friday.  Allow more time than google says to get there, these are back country roads, and the drive in from the entry gate at Wilsons Prom is a slow one (will take you 30-40mins).  We HIGHLY RECOMMEND arriving before 6pm for 3 reasons:

1.  You don't want to miss out of the mexican feast for dinner!  We would love to have everyone there around the table, so we can get to know each other, and map out our plan for the weekend.

2.  After 6pm the road into Tidal River is absolutely teeming with wildlife!  Yes you need to be careful during the day too, but close to dusk all the animals come out to play on the roads, we want to keep our wildlife and you safe, and a wombat will write your car off if you hit one.  DO NOT take the risk!

3.  After dinner we are headed out for sunset - you will need to make your own way out to the beach and find us.  We would love to have everyone with us when we head out.

Is it for you?

YES! I cannot stress enough this is VERY beginner friendly, or those just starting out. You can opt in or out of any activity, and only do those you are comfortable with.
