About this trip

Wander up to Wisconsin's Northwoods in October and be captivated by fall’s dramatic colors, trek trails rich with history,  paddle on sparkling lakes, cycle over cool creeks, harvest from the land, and be part of the beloved tradition known as the “Up North” experience.

Ladies, come to the Northwoods for our women's ultimate "Up North" experience. The setting of our adventures is scenic Manitowish Waters in Vilas County, Wisconsin. This is a place known for beautiful nature, friendly communities, and outdoor recreation like canoeing, hiking, biking, and fishing.

The Wisconsin Fall Colors Northwoods Women's Adventure combines a variety of unique outdoor adventures & local experiences led by resident experts including North Lakeland Discovery Center Naturalists, local scientists, business owners, and author John Bates.

How difficult in this trip?

As with all women’s adventure programs, this Wisconsin adventure is designed to give you a chance to step outside your comfort zone so that you can discover things about yourself, as well as learn about the Northwood Ecosystem.

When considering this trip, please do consider your physical limitations, likes and dislikes, and interests but don’t decide not to do this trip because you don’t “think” you can do it, or because you “don’t want to hold anyone back.”

The group is small and designed to accommodate the participants. The activities were designed to give you the right amount of challenge supplemented with abundant support in the form of an outstretched hand, shared laughs, and words of encouragement.

Know your limits and communicate them to your guide, but also let us give you ideas about how we can help you do any activity on this trip if you have the desire to do so.

Hikes are easy to moderate and are unpaved. Expect uneven terrain and gradual inclines.  Participants should be able to walk unassisted carrying a light backpack.

The bike ride from Manitowish Waters to Boulder Junction is 16 miles on a paved path that is mostly flat. Participants have the electric assist bikes to give them an extra boost with little effort.

It was an amazing trip for our daughter. The activities were great, lodging perfect for her group and she enjoyed the food. Green Edventures did a really good job rescheduling our trip and dealing with the COVID restrictions.

The Baja Sur Mexico adventure was a once in a lifetime opportunity that I would strongly recommend for anyone. The crew and guides are wonderful at what they do. They are very knowledgeable and yet have the best personalities. The chefs made delicious meals 3 times a day and the restaurants we went to were clean and great too. The entire trip we felt safe and secure. I read every review about the trip ahead of time and they are all accurate. That is why Green Edventures is a 5 star!

It was incredible! Baja is beautiful, and camping on the beach was the most amazing thing ever. The interactions with the whales, the whale sharks, the sea lions.... everything was just so cool. Green Edventures (this is my second trip) does a great job of planning and coordinating logistics, providing necessary info, and basically, they do everything to make their trips perfect. The food is always great and lots of it, the local staff are friendly and knowledgeable, and of course, Tara the owner is fantastic. Additionally, I find that these trips attract a really interesting group of smart, self-sufficient women who are a pleasure to get to know. Both trips I have gone not knowing anyone else, and at the end, you have a whole new set of friends. If you want to go places, and don't have a travel buddy, Tara's trips would be perfect for you.

I just returned from the Wisconsin Women's Tour and couldn't have asked for a better trip! For me, the amount and type of activity were perfect. Who know there was so much to discover practically in my own backyard?
