About this trip

Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta - video

If you’re ready to imagine a new life for yourself, come join us in the beautiful Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta, for five magical days to re-ignite your lost passions and desires while cultivating new and exciting possibilities!

We’ll nourish our bodies with healthy food, deeply relaxing massages, spa services, beach and swimming pool, sunrise and sunset meditation, yoga practices, and a full immersion workshop on Primal Dance, a system created to awaken and attune our healing and creative energies, from molecular level, in the deepest of our biological being to complete transcendence.  (Click here for more info on Primal Dance).

We will nurture our hearts by honoring what we’ve accomplished in our lives so far, our lineage, as well as exploring what we’re ready to create next.

We’ll indulge our adventurous spirits with special activities such as hikes to sacred places, horseback riding, river tubbing and a Spiritual Kogi Ceremony lead by a local Mamo/Spiritual Leader.

My hope is that by the end of our time together, you’ll be relaxed, re-inspired, ready to dive into the next chapter of your life with the clarity and steps you need to take to get there because you will have practical tools to return to that place of divine connection at any time.

Last but not least, you will have a new tribe of like-minded wonder women!

See you in paradise!

Namaste,

Carolina Herrera

Gitana del Mar Beach Resort

Gitana del Mar Boutique Beach Resort is located on the shores of the Caribbean Sea in Colombia, South America. The resort lies at the foothills of the impressive and magical Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta, the world’s highest Coastal Mountain Range. This area is referred to as the Heart of the world, not only because of its geographical location, but more importantly, because every single ecosystem exists and thrives in the Sierra Nevada mountains.

It is here in the shadow of the Sierra Nevada, nestled under the shade of majestic coconut palms is a place where you can disconnect from the hectic world and appreciate the simpler things in life.  Find harmony with mother Earth as she offers up the sun, empty virgin beaches, fresh salt air and unforgettable panoramic seascapes. Gitana del Mar is a relaxing world where time moves slowly, and you can reflect and appreciate all that life and nature have to give. Escape for a while to life by the sea. Feel the raw energy of the Sierra Nevada mountains. Discover peace on empty, white sand beaches. Rise with the sun over the Caribbean and fall asleep counting falling stars in the Milky Way.

Indigenous Cultures Protecting the Heart of the World

The four existing indigenous tribes (Kogi, Wiwa, Arhuaco and Kankuamo people) are ancestors of the pre-Hispanic Civilization, known as the Tayrona. They still practice and follow the Tayrona belief of “Aluna”, which is the belief that all reality is created by thought. Every object or being has both a spiritual aspect and a physical reality, both of which originate in thought. These people have been calling the Sierra Nevada Mountains their home for hundreds of years.

They refer to this area as “The Heart of the World” because they believe that what happens in the Sierra Nevada also happens everywhere in the world.  They are committed to restoring the Earth´s balance to by performing daily ritual practices, mental discipline and meditations. All of their efforts are to help protect the Sierra Nevada and the world from destruction. They have plenty to protect, including multiple ecosystems, such as: wetlands, mangroves, tropical rain forests, desert, alpine tundra and finally reaching snowcapped mountains at the summit.

Through all these varied ecosystems, thousands of species of plants and animals have been identified, including dozens of which can only be found here. Many rivers also flow from the mountains, including three large ones that empty the some of the freshest water in the world right onto our beaches. These stunning rivers are all within a 15-minute drive from the property and provide fun adventures, calming fresh water and breathtaking views.

Cuisine

The kitchen works with the local fishermen of the area to bring whatever is fresh straight to your plate. This sea to table approach combines healthy ingredients together in a coastal themed, fusion-style menu with Colombian, Latin and Asian flavors. Our ever-evolving selection is a unique combination of the traditional dishes and flavors from Colombia along with other recipes from around the world. We are passionate about supporting our community and using the most local ingredients available, including fruit, veggies and herbs from our own gardens and fresh-caught fish and seafood from our regional fisherman. Tropical juices are one of the most spectacular culinary traditions in Colombia, which is why we honor and serve them here daily. Our plethora of seasonal fruits includes: Passion Fruit, Star fruit, Guava, Lulo, Mango, Pineapple, etc. Fresh fruit and herb infused cocktails are also available per request. The menu changes daily and three gourmet meals are served. This includes fresh fruit juices, bottled water, coffee and tea. Our kitchen can accommodate any vegetarian, vegan or gluten-free requests as long as you let us know in advance prior to the retreat. Also, please let us know if you have any allergies or if there are certain foods you do not eat. We need to know this information when you make your reservation so that we can let our chefs know in advance.
