What to Expect:

• Sunrise-to-Sunset Shoots: Rise before dawn to photograph the serene beauty of sunrise and golden hour, then capture the vibrant hues of sunset late into the evening.
• Hands-On Experience: Spend 3–4 hours each outing at iconic and lesser-known locations, perfecting your craft and creating stunning compositions.
• Classroom Insights: Hone your post-processing techniques with a dedicated session on Day Four, turning your captures into masterpieces.
• Time to Recharge: Midday breaks allow you to rest, refuel, and prepare for the next outing.

Daily Schedule Highlights:

• Day One: Start the journey with a Meet & Greet at 4 PM, followed by a breathtaking sunset shoot.
• Days Two–Four: Dive into photography with sunrise and sunset shoots every day, plus a classroom session on Day Four from 1–4 PM.
• Day Five: Conclude your adventure with a final sunrise/morning shoot, wrapping up by 10 AM in Bandon.

This workshop is as much about the journey as it is about the destination. Some of our shooting locations require hikes of up to 1 mile each way, traversing rocky and uneven terrain. You’ll explore the rugged coastline on foot, venturing down to where the waves meet the shore to capture breathtaking compositions.

Expect to Get Wet: Whether it’s wading into the surf for the perfect angle or feeling the spray of the Pacific, this is photography up close and personal with nature’s power.

To ensure you’re fully prepared for the elements, we’ll send a detailed gear list 60 days in advance. From sturdy footwear to water-resistant gear, you’ll have everything you need to tackle the terrain and make the most of your experience.

Early September on the Oregon Coast offers some of the year’s most inviting weather. Expect moderately warm daytime temperatures around 80°F and cooler evenings dropping to 55°F. While rain isn’t likely, the coastal environment can be unpredictable, so preparation is key to a seamless and enjoyable experience.

Gear and Clothing Recommendations:

• Dress in Layers: The temperature shifts between sunrise, midday, and sunset make layering essential for comfort throughout the day.
• Waterproof Gear: Pack a rain or waterproof cover for your camera and lens, as photographing near water and rocks means potential exposure to ocean spray.
• Hydration is Vital: Stay energized by drinking water consistently during the day and evening.
• Footwear for Water Photography: Waders or river sandals with neoprene socks are highly recommended for safely navigating the shoreline and capturing shots at the water’s edge.
