About this trip

Join us for a 7 day retreat like none you've heard of or been on before. We will be traveling Costa Rica, getting disconnected from the world we once knew to take a deeper dive within ourselves. This retreat is about working on YOU, from the inside out.

Your Retreat Leaders: This retreat is led by Erin Stevenson, creator and founder of The Do Good Movement, and a 200hr Experienced Yoga Instructor with Yoga Alliance, as well as Kathleen McShane, MA, LCPC, CCTP, the director and founder of Begin Within Therapy Services and psychotherapist specializing in women's issues, trauma and attachment. Together we will help you achieve your next level of personal growth and improve your overall better well-being.

Yoga And More: Each day we will begin with a yoga practice led by Erin and will end the evening with a restorative/meditative practice and group discussion. What makes this retreat different from most is that our discussions will be led by Kathleen to work on your mental well-being. There will also be opportunities for intensive therapy sessions with Kathleen at an additional cost. After an initial phone call, a customized plan will be developed for an issue or topic you would like to work on.

Kindness Karma Project: Additionally this retreat is like no other because we will be taking our yoga off the mat and giving back to the local community in Costa Rica by participating in The Do Good Movement's Kindness Karma Projects. Two days during our retreat we will be visiting the Wild Sun Wildlife Center and a local Elementary School to provide support and help create different supplies and structures to help make an impact with their groups. Get ready to be inspired, moved and touched by the souls, children and animals of Costa Rica.

Plenty of time will be available for you to take leisurely walks, swim in the ocean or lodge's pool, watch the magnificent sunsets, stargaze, learn to surf, get a massage and explore the many adventures of Costa Rica. We will provide a list of excursions such as surf lessons, ziplining, horseback riding on the beach and snorkeling. These excursions are an additional fee.

And of  course we will be experiencing the lovely estate of The Cabuya Lodge, a 5 -minute walk to Los Cedros Beach. The lodge is composed of different small "lodges" to be shared by 3-6 people. And have we mentioned the private chef? Your meals are all included in your stay at the lodge.

Transportation: Cabuya Lodge is located in the fishing village of Cabuya (de Cobano) on the southern tip of the Nicoya Peninsula in the province of Puntarenas in Costa Rica. We are only minutes away from Cabo Blanco Absolute Natural Reserve, about 20 minutes from Mal Pais and Santa Teresa and 10 minutes from Montezuma.  You will book your international flight into either San Jose  or Liberia international airport. We will work with you for options for transportation to Cabuya Lodge from the airport. Please note that airfare is not included and travel insurance is encouraged.

Cancelation Policy

We run our cancellation policy to be consistent with that of the Cabuya Lodge. The retreat center is a small place and by booking with us, and we reserve your room, or the entire cabin for you, then there’s not much chance of us being able to fill your space at the last minute. So please be 100% sure that you want to book for the retreat and travel to the Cabuya Lodge before you submit your deposit.

Our policy applies in all situations, whether it’s caused by your own fault, medical emergencies, or acts of God.

If you need to cancel your reservation more than 30 days before your scheduled arrival date, then we will refund half of the money you paid for deposit.

If you need to cancel your reservation 30 days or less before your scheduled arrival date, then you will lose your deposit.

Excursions and add ons

We are excited at the opportunity to include some extra add ons to your Women's retreat. Below is a listing of additional items and adventures you can include within your trip. Once you register we will send you additional information on how to add this on to your retreat as well as the additional payment for the excursions and timeline of the week:

Hike - $15: This is a hike in the national park Cabo Blanco. Danes Trail takes about an hour (depending very much on how fast people walk, how often they stop etc.) it’s 1.5 km and is a loop. This hike is technically easier.

These are true hikes and depending on the season it could be muddy or have some tricky footing.

Wear hiking footwear and bring lots of water (you can refill at the entrance). There are bathrooms at the ranger station.

Surf Lesson - $50: A 2 hour lesson, which includes land instruction and time in the water. The lesson will take place at Playa Grande in Montezuma, which is a beautiful 30 minute walk along the jungle and beach. Including the walk it’s about 3 hours. Once you factor in transportation there and back, this activity is about 4 hours. Often a little bit of time is added to enjoy the town of Montezuma. There are little shops for souvenirs, gelato shop, cash machine etc.

The time for the surf lesson will depend on the tides. We can check well in advance what the times would be so you can pre-plan which day(s) you’d like to offer the surf lesson.

Zipline Canopy Tour - $45: An exciting circuit with 9 cables distributed across 13 platforms will take you through the mountains of Montezuma. From the air, you’ll enjoy adrenaline and see the richness of wildlife found in Costa Rica from panoramic viewpoints, with the Pacific Ocean in the foreground.

That’s what the intense ziplining experience is all about, and you may see howler monkeys and capuchin monkeys, parrots, iguanas, and much more. Also, during the tour, you will visit famous waterfalls, where you can take photos or swim in the natural pools that the waterfalls have carved out.

The tour begins with the guides providing instructions, and putting on the equipment. The correct positioning of the equipment is very important so that you can have an excellent time on the tour.

Wear closed toe shoes and insect repellant. You may also wish to wear a swimsuit to enjoy the waterfalls

Snorkeling - $65: More detail to come with location and time.

Massage 60 min/90 min- $60/$75: Openings will be based on first come first serve basis. Once you register for the retreat we will be sending out the available time slots for the massages.

***All add on items will be booked after signing up for the retreat. This will help us see who is interested in what and the best way to fit it into our week's schedule. Payment will be made either in person during the retreat to the vendors of the excursion or to the Cabuya Lodge. If you are interested in one or more of these items, make sure to identify during the final part of the on-line registration for the retreat***

This was an amazing experience and I'm so glad I went! Erin and Kathleen planned everything out so well. I had never been to New Mexico and it was gorgeous in every way. Daily yoga, relaxing at the pool, meeting new people, sightseeing, hiking... I'd do it all over again if I could.

This was a very interesting experience. The retreat was in a historic San Geronimo Lodge . The room was very comfortable and the meals provided were delicious especially the desserts. Albina and her family were very accommodating to all of our needs. Erin and Kathleen once again took care of all the details from our arrival at the airport and our transport to the lodge. They also provided us with two trolley rides one to the Love Apple restaurant and another on a history tour which was very informative. Yoga in the yurt was very relaxing. Kathleen.s book was very informative and the discussion was also informative. The most interesting part was the Shannon Fire Ceremony provided by the Pueblo Indians it was emotional moving. Oh! We must not forget got another wonderful massage! Can’t wait until the next retreat.

This was a trip of a lifetime. Kathleen and Erin created a spectacular retreat that allowed for rest, rejuvenation and connection. They created a wonderful itinerary that allowed for health, healing and fun! The Blue Sky Retreat Center was beautiful and historic. Albina, Roger and their family were very welcoming and took great care of us. The food was delicious, the yurt was beautiful and the grounds were stunning. From start to finish, this was a beautiful vacation in Taos that will stay with me for a long time to come.

This was a once and a lifetime experience. When staying at the Cabuya Lodge you experience the best things in life. Fresh air monkeys, beautiful sunrise, amazing food,. Hospitality is beyond compare at Cabuya Lodge. Mandy does her best to accommodate all your needs and wants. When visiting a must is a massage . I have never experienced a massage like the one I received at the lodge. Erin and Kathleen couldn’t have been better host for the retreat. The Yoga in the morning woke you up, the evening yoga relaxed you. The book we read was very interesting and to hear the different opinions in group made you think. Kathleen lead the conversation to allow everyone express their thoughts and than give some feedback. The excursion offered allowed everyone something to do. The full day out on the Ocean was the best way to end the Inside Out experience. The community service trips were also interesting. Thanks for a great life experience.
