World School Camp Japan: May 3–12, 2026

Step into the heart of Japan with your family and join us for 10 days of cultural discovery, hands-on learning, and unforgettable adventure. From the bustling streets of Tokyo to the peaceful temples of Kyoto and the vibrant energy of Osaka, this camp is designed to spark curiosity in children and bring families closer together.

Our World School Camps blend education with exploration—where visiting a temple becomes a history lesson, wandering a bamboo forest feels like stepping into a storybook, and hands-on workshops connect kids with Japan’s rich traditions. Day 1

Day 1 image

Welcome to Japan

Your family adventure begins as you arrive in Tokyo, one of the most vibrant cities in the world.

A private transfer will bring you to the hotel where you can rest after your flight and settle in. Families arriving at different times will be supported with transfer arrangements so that everyone starts the trip smoothly.

In the evening, we’ll gather for a casual welcome and orientation. This is a chance for kids to meet new friends and for parents to connect with other families traveling together.

Many families joining our camps are homeschoolers or worldschoolers, but this experience is designed for all families who want to combine travel with meaningful shared experiences.

Day 2

Tokyo’s Icons: Where Old Meets New

We begin our journey at Meiji Jingu Shrine, set within peaceful forested grounds — a calm contrast to the bustle of the city. Kids love the wide paths and open space, and strollers are welcome. From here, the energy ramps up at Shibuya Crossing, one of the busiest pedestrian intersections in the world. The buzz, lights, and giant screens make for an unforgettable memory.

The day continues at Zojoji Temple, where history meets serenity, before climbing Tokyo Tower to see the sprawling cityscape from above. With pre-purchased tickets, we keep the day flowing smoothly. Each stop is designed to be engaging for families, with time to explore, take photos, and enjoy the variety Tokyo offers.

Temples, Tech & Interactive Art

Start your morning at Sensoji Temple, Tokyo’s oldest and most colourful temple, with its lively market street full of treats and souvenirs. Families can soak in the culture while enjoying the festive atmosphere. Then, explore Akihabara, the centre of anime, manga, and gaming culture. Whether your kids love Japanese pop culture or prefer to rest their feet in a café, there’s something here for everyone.

The afternoon brings one of Japan’s most exciting experiences — teamLab Planets. Step into a dreamlike world of interactive art, where you’ll wade through glowing water, walk beneath mirrored skies, and explore dazzling light-filled rooms. We leave plenty of time (2–3 hours) for families to truly enjoy the magic. The day wraps up at Odaiba, a waterfront playground with family options like Gundam Base, LEGOLAND Discovery, and shopping — perfect for a relaxed evening.

Day 4

The Wonder of Mt. Fuji

No trip to Japan is complete without Mt. Fuji. Today we journey into the Yamanashi region, starting at the Fuji World Heritage Center to learn the cultural significance of Japan’s most iconic peak. Then wander through a colourful Flower Park, alive with seasonal blooms that kids love to explore.

The highlight is a boat ride on Swan Lake, with Mt. Fuji as your backdrop. While views of the mountain depend on the weather, the region’s beauty is always worth the trip. Families travel comfortably on a private coach with regular rest breaks — perfect for kids who need to stretch and snack along the way.

Nagoya: Castles & Cars

History and innovation come together in Nagoya. Begin at Nagoya Castle, a place that sparks imagination with its dramatic walls and golden ornaments. Inside the Honmaru Palace, families can admire detailed murals and traditional Japanese design.

Next, explore the Toyota Kaikan Museum, where futuristic cars and robots show Japan’s innovation at its best. Even without a factory tour, the exhibits are fascinating for both kids and parents, and your guide will help explain in English. End the day at Atsuta Shrine, a peaceful and sacred space that balances out the modern with the spiritual.

Day 6

Day 6 image

Kyoto & Nara: Red Gates, Deer & Giant Buddhas

Travel into Japan’s cultural heart. At Fushimi Inari Shrine, thousands of bright red gates create a winding path up the hillside. Children love running through the endless tunnels while parents enjoy the atmosphere steeped in tradition.

In Nara Park, gentle deer wander freely and happily accept crackers from children (¥200 per pack). Then step inside Todai-ji Temple, home to the Great Buddha. Kids can try crawling through the “Buddha’s Nostril” pillar — said to bring good luck. With space for picnics and room to roam, this day is especially memorable for families.

Day 7

Day 7 image

Kyoto’s Golden Highlights

Today is all about Kyoto’s most treasured sites. Begin at Kiyomizu-dera Temple, with its grand wooden terrace offering panoramic views of the city. The lively streets leading to the temple are lined with shops selling sweets and handicrafts — a delight for families to explore together.

Next, visit the Golden Pavilion (Kinkaku-ji), shimmering in gold leaf and reflected in its beautiful pond. Then wander into the magical Arashiyama Bamboo Forest, where towering bamboo creates a natural wonderland. The evening concludes with a traditional cultural performance of dance and music — a colourful, authentic way to connect with Japan’s artistic traditions.

Day 8

Day 8 image

Osaka: Castles, Parks & Sumo

Our Osaka day blends history, nature, and culture. Start at Osaka Castle, where families can choose between exploring the museum inside or strolling through the castle grounds. The stories of feudal lords and warriors come alive in this dramatic setting.

Afterwards, enjoy a gentle nature walk in Minoo Park, famous for its waterfalls and peaceful forest trails — a refreshing break for kids. The highlight of the day is a visit to Sumo Hall, where you’ll watch Japan’s traditional sport up close. A bento box meal is included, with child-friendly and dietary options available. It’s a cultural experience that will be talked about long after the trip ends.

Day 9

Free Day to Explore Osaka / or Hiroshima Day trip

After so many full days of discovery, today is for rest, flexibility, and family choice. Some families may want to relax at the hotel, while others might explore Osaka at their own pace. Options include visiting the famous Dotonbori district with its giant signs and street food, discovering Osaka Aquarium Kaiyukan, or simply enjoying time together in local parks and shops.

This free day is designed so families can follow their own rhythm — whether that means adventure, downtime, or a bit of both. It’s also a great chance for kids to spend unstructured time with new friends before the trip winds down.
