During this week-long technical diving expedition aboard the liveaboard vessel Galten, you’ll have the opportunity to dive historic destroyers and cargo ships, perfectly preserved beneath cold, clear waters. This is world-class deep wreck diving at its finest, combining advanced technical diving, exploration and underwater history.

Each dive is carefully planned based on weather conditions, tides, and currents to ensure maximum safety and the best possible experience. Expect challenging yet rewarding dives, with depths reaching up to 70 meters, making this expedition ideal for experienced technical divers seeking extended bottom times and decompression diving.

From massive steel structures to intricate engine rooms and wartime artifacts, every dive offers a unique glimpse into the past. This expedition is designed for divers looking for adventure, precision, and some of the most iconic deep wreck dives in the world.

Upon arrival in Narvik, we will transfer from the airport to the city center by bus (approximately 45 minutes to 1 hour). We recommend coordinating arrival times where possible to simplify logistics, and the Axolot team will assist with planning ahead of the expedition.

In Narvik, a member of the team will welcome you and escort you to the expedition vessel, our home for the week. This unique liveaboard, originally built in the 1960s, combines character and history with modern safety standards and a layout perfectly adapted for technical diving expeditions.

Once onboard, you will be assigned your cabin and have time to assemble and check your diving equipment. The evening is dedicated to settling in, preparing gear, and getting ready for the first day of world-class wreck diving in Norway.

After breakfast, we begin the day with a detailed dive briefing covering the wreck site, dive plan, and safety procedures.

Diving operations in Narvik are highly dependent on tidal movements, weather conditions, and currents. With tidal variations reaching up to 3 meters, dives are carefully timed to ensure optimal conditions and safety, minimizing current and maximizing visibility.

Throughout the expedition, we will explore some of the most iconic World War II wrecks in Norway, including the legendary German destroyers Z2 Georg Thiele, Z12 Erich Giese, Z19 Hermann Künne, as well as the cargo ship S/S Odin. These deep wreck dives offer an exceptional combination of history, scale, and technical challenge, making Narvik one of the premier cold-water wreck diving destinations in the world.

Over the next four days, we embark on an unforgettable journey through some of the most iconic World War II wrecks in Narvik. This region is a true paradise for technical wreck diving, offering a unique concentration of deep, well-preserved shipwrecks in cold, clear Arctic waters.

Dive sites may include legendary wrecks such as Z17 Dieter von Roeder, Z21 Wilhelm Heidkamp, Z22 Anton Schmidt, as well as impressive cargo vessels like M/S Neuenfels, M/S Stråssa, S/S Martha Henrik Fisser, S/S Romanby, and the P/S Norway. Each wreck offers its own character, history, and technical challenges. From massive hull structures to detailed penetrations and fascinating wartime artifacts.

Our captain, Erik, is not only highly experienced in navigating these waters but also a passionate technical CCR diver. His extensive knowledge of the wrecks, local conditions, tides, and currents ensures optimal dive planning and provides invaluable insights to maximize both safety and enjoyment on every dive.

After completing our final dives, we dedicate time to thoroughly rinse, clean, and dry all diving equipment. This ensures everything is properly maintained and ready for packing ahead of disembarkation.

As all great expeditions come to an end, we disembark after breakfast and begin our journey home. A transfer will be arranged to the bus station for your return to the airport.
