      About this trip

Follow the call of the wild and have a “howling” good time with our pack as we explore a winter wonderland in search of Grey Wolves and other iconic wildlife of the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem.

Join Green Edventures Yellowstone winter wolves women's adventure will prowl the Northern Yellowstone Range in search of Grey Wolves. Participants will see and learn about wolves in the wild, and gain a better understanding of the complexity of wolf conservation in the United States.

Join us on our Yellowstone winter wolves women’s adventure for an unforgettable multi-day winter wolves and wildlife safari. We’ll spend 3 full days exploring the Yellowstone Ecosystem, focusing on the Northern Range of Yellowstone National Park, some of the best wolf habitat in the lower 48 States!

      Why Wolves of Yellowstone?

Who hasn’t tried to imitate a lone wolf howling at the moon? Humans have been both fascinated and fearful of wolves for centuries. In the 1920s the last wolf pack of Yellowstone was eradicated by the US Government because the philosophy at the time was that less wolves meant more deer and elk. As time played out, the opposite became true and without wolves, the ecosystem was off balance. In the 1990s wolves from Canada were introduced by wildlife biologists into Yellowstone, and since then, Yellowstone has become a setting to study the importance of Grey Wolves as a keystone species which many other species relies on for survival.

On this adventure we hope to ignite your fascination with wolves. Participants will observe wolves in their natural habitat and learn about their physical and behavioral adaptations that make them an apex predator in the ecosystem, including their complex social structures and cooperative hunting skills. Participants will meet experts in the field who are studying the wolves of Yellowstone. We want participants to learn first-hand about the issues affecting the conservation of wild wolves and why we need to protect them.

More than wolves! Our winter wolves women's adventures are small groups, each departure is limited to just 11 participants with 2 guides. We will explore together like an extended family in the warm company of like-minded women and led by expert local guides. With Yellowstone as their backyard, you can be assured that our naturalist will introduce you to all of the wildlife in the park and surrounding areas. You can expect to see bison, moose, elk, pronghorn deer, bighorn sheep, swans, eagles, coyotes, foxes, and ermine.

Our Yellowstone Winter Wolves women's adventure is for anyone who would like to learn about wolves and the ecology of Yellowstone National Park. The trip is open to women ages 18 and older.

Health and Safety: The trip requires good physical fitness and mobility, or the ability to walk up to 1 mile over uneven terrain.  If you have health questions, consult your doctor for more information. The tour leaders must be advised in advance of any special health needs.

Weather conditions can change without notice and it is the responsibility of the traveler to have proper clothing and equipment. We will provide a list for the clothing and gear recommended for the trip. Daytime Temperatures are often below 30 degrees F and can reach below zero in this high elevation (more than 5000’) environment.  Tours typically encounter snowy, icy, wet, and cold conditions.

Wow, what an adventure. This was my 9th trip with Green Edventures and Tara does not disappoint. We saw humpbacks, dolphins., porpoises, sea lions, seals, orcas, and grizzles in addition to sea birds. We learned why not to eat farm raised salmon. The sea kayaking was amazing, food delicious, and cormoradory delightful. I highly recommend this trip or any other Green Ed trip. I would do it again.

I cannot express how much our guides went above and beyond for us, especially in a non-traditional trip (kayaking). Tim and Kelly are the best!

Everyone was very supportive and our guides were knowledgeable. I learned a lot about kayaking on the Great Lakes. It was so much fun on and off the water. Our accommodations were wonderful. It was a great experience.

I went on an amazing trip with Tara to Baja, Mexico in 2020. This was a dream trip for me being a wildlife lover. It was incredible to be able to swim with whale sharks and sea lions and get up close with gray whales. Camping on the beach was amazing. We had a great group of women and everyone vibed well and all of the tour guides including Tara, Alex and Chabello were so fun, friendly and helpful every step of the way. The food was great at the campsite and at the restaurants we got to try. When our trip plans initially got derailed waiting on a negative Covid test and we had to get a different flight, Tara did everything in her power to accommodate us and make sure we got to enjoy every part of the trip, including setting us up with another whale shark swimming tour after we had missed the initial one with the group, and she spent time waiting for us to finish before leaving for the airport. I definitely recommend Green Edventures, especially the Baja Mexico trip!

I just returned from the Wisconsin Women's Tour and couldn't have asked for a better trip! For me, the amount and type of activity were perfect. Who know there was so much to discover practically in my own backyard?
