We invite you to experience Egypt in a unique and off the beaten path way! This retreat is for adventure, culture, food and nature lovers all at once. Follow us as we take you through Old Cairo's alleyways and shops, discover mosques from the Fatimid era, spend time in Salah al Din's Citadelle, eat in local restaurants, cruise on the Nile, stargaze in the oasis of Siwa, swim in Cleopatra's bath, salt lakes and hot springs!

DAY 1 ARRIVALS: Our team will welcome you all at the airport, afterwards, we'll head to our hotel in Cairo where you can freshen up and get ready for our welcome dinner!
DAY 2 GIZA PYRAMIDS: We figured we'd get straight into it and begin with the iconic Giza Pyramids. We'll tour the plateau, and learn about the Chephren, Mycerinus pyramids as well as the Valley Temple and Great Sphinx. Afterwards, we'll enjoy lunch near the pyramids and head back to our hotel to relax and freshen up for our later afternoon boat ride on the Nile.
DAY 3 ISLAMIC CAIRO: We'll spend the morning visiting various mosques around Cairo (Citadelle of Saladin, Sultan Hassan, Al Rifai and more! Afterwards, we booked a special lunch at unique location. In the afternoon, you'll meet our friends at the Cairo Coffee Collective for fresh coffee made with love. We've arranged to have dinner in very unique places, let us surprise you!
DAY 4 ISLAMIC CAIRO: Today we'll visit Al-Azhar mosque and learn about the beautiful architecture built by the Fatimid Empire. We'll stop at the Ibn Tulum mosque and learn about its timeless beauty and depth. After lunch, you'll have the afternoon to discover the Khan al Khalili Bazaar. As for dinner, it will take place at a very special place.
DAY 5 SIWA (9 hour drive): Relax and get acquainted with the environment, unwind by the pool or walk around the ecovillage to explore the facilities before savoring your first exquisite Moroccan meal at Taziry.
DAY 6 EPIC OASIS: After a delicious home-grown filling breakfast, observe and learn about the monuments of all great civilizations that passed by this mythical oasis, from the Pharaonic to the Greco-Roman period, with the most knowledgeable and multi-lingual guide in Siwa: Temple of the Oracle of Amun (or temple of Alexander the Great), Temple of Amun, Cleopatra's bath, Mountain of the Dead, Ruins of Shali, and the Island of Fatnas. This tour will not be another monotonous cultural trip, it will enable you to witness Siwa’s richest and deepest roots; to understand and enjoy it from a universal perspective.
DAY 7 THE GREAT SAND SEA: Get ready for the most unforgettable experience of discovering the various depths of the Great Sand Sea. A 4x4 vehicle will drive you to the desert for a full-day safari. You will appreciate the petrified forests, fossilized sea shells, cruise on top of curved sand dunes, swim in fresh lakes and hot sulphuric springs. You will also be equipped for sand-boarding: easy slopes for the amateurs and the steepest dunes for the advanced! Snacks, juices and mint tea will be served for lunch. After you observe the magnificent sunset from the top of a high dune, you will be back to Taziry for a well-deserved delicious dinner.
DAY 8 HIGH BELOW: You might well have heard that our mysterious oasis is below sea level, and was once part of the Ocean. If you are “in tune” with Mother-Nature, you will immediately feel its energy. In the Salt Lake (as salty as the Dead Sea) you will be able to refresh your skin and body and float free while watching the beautiful blue sky above. After that, our guide will take you to Abou Shrouf's spring, to swim in its fresh warm waters. When you have completely rejuvenated, you will visit the old village of Ain Saf to learn about an authentic hundred years old olive oil press, then you will be taken to watch the sunset from a vantage point.
DAY 9 RETURN TO CAIRO: Upon returning to Cairo, we will have one last dinner together and prepare for departure on the following day. We'll be sad to see you go!
DAY 10 AIRPORT DROP OFF
Burgundy Roots prides itself in unique and curated travel experiences. In order for us to fulfil our promise, we must pay our suppliers ahead of time. Please note that once your deposit is processed, it cannot be recuperated as our suppliers upfront months ahead of time. Thank you for your understanding. Please read carefully through our cancelation policy and message us if you have any questions.
Deposit/payment terms: Please note that all deposits and payments are non-refundable and non-transferable. Deposits must be received within the time specified at the time of booking in order to confirm your booking and avoid automatic cancellation. If you are unable to attend for whatever reason, you may transfer the trip to a family member or friend.
Cancellation charges:
Please note that deposits and payments are non-refundable. In the event of a travel ban due to COVID-19 or any other unforeseen circumstances, retreat dates will be altered to a later date. No refunds will be granted. Discomfort/unease with regards to travel or quarantine upon return will not be considered. All payments are final and non-refundable.
Final payment:
Final payments are due 80 days prior to the trip. Any cancelation made 80 days or more prior to the trip is subject to a 50% penalty (your card will be charged another 25% of the retreat fee). Any cancelation made 79 days or less prior to trip is subject to full payment of retreat fee.
